Classic Car Dr, October 25, 2014 , First Hour, 1st Half - Ron starts this "spooktacular" show from Halloween asking questions about Humpty Dumpty and draws comparisons between auto repair and fairy tales.

Classic Car Dr; Ron starts this "spooktacular" show from Halloween asking questions about Humpty Dumpty and draws comparisons between auto repair and fairy tales.  He relates a story from the shop of a 2008 Toyota Sienna, a drop in with no appointment, that despite best efforts, keeps coming back with new problems. The Sienna seems haunted as it falls apart in front of Ron & the crews eyes this week. He closes the segment asking the question "Is fixing cars like a fairy tale" sometimes? You decide. After the break he takes calls; a listener want to know why his 4 tire pressure gauges all read different and which one is the right one? Of course, Ron breaks it down for us all to understand and make a decision. Ron also admits he has to throw a tire pressure gauge away on a regular basis as they don't keep their calibration. The Car Dr closes the segment helping a caller (and all of us) with tire purchase decisions. How to pick a good tire and why certain tires are better to stay away from. Avoid the pitfalls and listen in!

Welcome to todays Classic Car Doctor episode! Ron finishes a call from the previous episode about a Ford Taurus with a miss fire fault. The ignition system came 2 ways this year, 2001. A coil on plug stand along version and a coil on plug with ignition wires. It matters not because Ron helps us understand the proper method to test ignition coils and systems using some basic, affordable test equipment.

Next up is a call from NYC regarding a 2005 Honda Civic with a rattling front suspension noise. The chain store that replaced front struts in the vehicle says its not their part and the Honda dealer says it is. The vehicle owner is stuck in the middle and he turns to Ron for the answer. A tough spot for sure but The Car Doctor has the answers and ideas to help.

Lansing Michigan is calling in next; Tim has a low level vibration noise in his ES300 Lexus that no one seems to be able to repair. But Ron has some answers and they are simple solutions. Tune in to find out!

Last today; well, its an Obi-Wan Kanobi moment. "Help me Car Doctor, you're my only hope" from a caller with a 2006 GMC Sierra that won't start in high humidity conditions. Parts have been replaced but testing has not been done to any great degree. Listen in as Ron springs into action to offer several solutions and possibilities for all to learn from.

We start up The Car Doctor today with calls. Ron starts this episode with a caller from PA and some questions about his 2015 Jaguar XF. The Jag recently had an engine noise which required a replacement of the timing chain and tensioners. EVER SINCE, it hesitates when starting out. Complicated? Yes! Tune in to hear how Ron breaks it down into a simple approach by following a diagnostic routine. With Fathers Day next month Ron announces  his annual book giveaway with author interviews coming up soon. This year, one of the interviews will be with Thomas Glatch, covering his co-authored book, about to hit the book stores, The Complete Book of Dodge and Plymouth Muscle Cars. Ron continues the hour talking about what an OBD2 monitor is; how to complete them, what they mean as a diagnostic tool and in general their purpose in todays vehicle. His last caller is from CT; Brendan is experiencing a clunk from the front of his 07 Toyota Corolla; Ron helps us understand how to "take" the car apart mentally and figuratively to diagnose the problem to avoid just replacing parts.

My source of guidance for all car stuff

I do most of my own car repairs, this is both out of necessity and choice. I am perpetually poor and I like to make sure the job is done right. Ron is extremely accessible and provides the amount of guidance and pep talk that I need to tackle these automotive tasks in my driveway. As far as I can tell this is the only car show whose host actively operates their own auto repair business and STILL WORKS ON CARS for a living.

Aircraft Mechanic Instructors listen too

Great show very informative, positive view point automotive maintenance. Great trade & skill information that applies to aviation, I use a lot of Ron’s information as an aviation mechanic instructor for my students. Especially troubleshooting skills and attitude and approach to troubleshooting.
