If you are learning the language in any form and at least beyond the early beginner stage, it would be well worthwhile to check out Juan's podcast. I have enjoyed it immensely over the last 3 and a half months, quickly getting addicted and, starting from the beginning, just now catching up and finishing his latest episode (237 eps in all). For me being the same age, I really identify with his perspective quite often; as in the latest episode where he sees this time, the year 2025, as the future and for so much of our life even the year 2000 seemed like the future. This brought back many of these same kind of memories for me. But what really makes Juan's podcast stand out is his versatility and variety, including humorous anecdotes, creative stories, historical perspective, psychological probing and sometimes just speaking off the cuff while out on a walk. I really do love Juan's sense of humor and probably my favorite episode was the story of how he got talked into buying a seat on a spaceship headed to planet Urus... only 5000€

I love Juan’s dry humor! I frequently find myself chuckling or laughing out loud at his commentary. As far as his teaching method, it is truly immersive. He uses context and situations to introduce grammar concepts and vocabulary. He doesn’t discuss rules, he demonstrates through context and repetition. It’s so easy to listen to his episodes while doing chores and not lose focus because it’s like listening to a funny friend.

Juan has been my best friend on road trips, cooking and just whenever I want to fit in extra Spanish. Incredibly useful, interesting and varied. I cannot recommend this podcast enough for learners!

If you listen to him repeatedly, you’ll advance faster than using any other method of learning. I’ve tried them all. Juan makes learning fun and very effective. This is the best podcast ever for learning Spanish! The repetition that Juan uses really does help me learn (and, more importantly, remember!). I love how he just talks like a normal person and how he explains colloquial expressions. I have become a believer that this is a much better learning method than “studying” grammar or vocabulary. I have been studying Spanish for 2 years and listen to multiple podcasts every day. This is one of the best, if not THE best for intermediate learners. The whole podcast is in Spanish and as others have said, he “teaches” you without teaching. Plus, he has a great sense of humor and doesn’t take himself or the topic too seriously. Highly recommend!

I listen to one Juan podcast daily while reading the transcript and it has helped me so much. It’s really the only podcast I can find that doesn’t “teach” while still teaching you Spanish. Similar to Dreaming Spanish, but even more natural. This is perfect for anyone not quite ready to listen to Spanish podcasts for native speakers.

I heard a lot about this podcast because the Dreaming Spanish Reddit thread loves him. Juan is perfect for intermediate level learners. I’ve tried so many other podcasts and Juan’s is my favorite because he’s not boring, he doesn’t talk super slow, he only speaks in Spanish and he doesn’t teach grammar. He just talks about a wide variety of things: his day, food he likes, places he’s visiting. He talks about everything and nothing, but does it in a way that is so entertaining. My Spanish has improved SO much. He has so many episodes you can listen to several episodes each day. I started from his first episode in 2017 and go sequentially. Great job Juan. Thank you!
