In today's episode, I discuss my reaction to the Selena Gomez documentary. My Mind and Me, A documentary published on Apple TV about the life of Selena Gomez. This documentary shows the uniquely raw and intimate thoughts, feelings, and emotions of a woman who has lived the majority of her life in the limelight.
I discuss my personal highlights of the film and include specific quotes from Selena. Finally, a documentary talking about mental health and the journey to healing. Selena gave a speech at the McLean Psychiatric Hospital Annual Dinner and I’ll quote a few words that she said that stood out to me and pulled on my heartstrings. “I started working at the age of seven and I quickly learned how to play the part. Breaking out of your comfort zone can be a challenging yet rewarding experience. It requires facing fears, letting go of familiar surroundings, and embracing the unknown. Being open to new experiences broadens our perspectives, helps us gain new skills, and allows us to form meaningful connections with others. I found this podcast of “IF I DONT LAUGH ILL CRY” by Christina Johnson, and let me tell you it’s everything. I’m “55 years” old, newly retired, divorced and trying to figure my life out. I ran across this podcast in searching for a new me and what’s the next step in my life. In listening to Christina, I will now incorporate meditation and journaling in my daily life as well as manifesting the desired life for myself. Christina’s voice is extremely soothing and peaceful, her positivity makes me know that I can accomplish anything.
