"If You’re Listening” is all about one person’s mission to force her friend to listen to all the music he missed in high school. Sometimes it goes well and Heather broadens her friend’s horizons just a little bit. Often times it doesn’t go so well and Ramsey spends the episode wondering why anyone would listen to this music, or in extreme cases, launching empty threats at the band that recorded it.

Enjoyable

Great banter and dynamic between hosts, and excellent guests. The only critique that I have is for Heather to devote a little more time to actually research the bands they cover before recording. There’s so much context that gets missed when she doesn’t have the basic history, which shouldn’t be that hard to retain. Otherwise, excellent show

Terrible on all levels

Fun conversation, poor sound

I checked out Ian Cohen’s appearance on the show to discuss a 1975 record I like. Overall, I really enjoyed the conversation, but it was difficult to make out at times.

I’m not sure how the show is produced, but the group seems to be listening to the record simultaneously while recording. That’s makes sense for their format, but I do not think the audience needs the music mixed into the final edit so loudly, if at all. It’s incredibly distracting.

Last note: someone get Heather a nice microphone!
