True crime + movies are two of my favorites topics and they are rolled into one. “Inspired By A True Story” carves out a wonderful niche amongst an forest of true crime podcasts. It’s always a great surprise learning a movie I’m familiar with was actually based on true events. Keep up the great work!

I listen to this the minute a new episode comes out. I love true crime, and this is just pure enjoyment for me. Highly recommended!

Good podcast and I like the movies but never think of the origin stories that caused them. Thanks for the content and respect for the victims that the movies may have not given

Listened to the first episode so far, and I didn’t know about the background story at all. So learning new stuff is always fun. What I didn’t like was the drippingly slow recap of the case. It almost sounded like I was missing a video portion because the pauses in audio (except for background “creepy sounds”) are so long, I wanted to fast forward. Hopefully it gets better (and faster) as they continue along.

I love movies, and I love true crime podcasts. This combines both of those interests into a cohesive formula that is both entertaining and informative. The hosts are genuinely engaging and bring laughs or a serious tone when appropriate. If you’re interested in learning about the actual story behind some of the movies you’ve seen, you won’t want to miss this show. It’s very much worth your time.

It’s cool to hear the true stories behind some of these well known movies. The cast from the Hollywood Outsider do a good job of separating what was real from what was fudged just a bit for the sake of cinema. I’d recommend it for someone who’s into true crime and also into entertainment.

I’ve been listening to every podcast these hosts do (with the exception of gaming) for years, and this was exciting to add to my subscriptions. I only listen to one true crime podcast, which also reviews the film depiction of the case so it will be an interesting listen if you ever review the Murdaugh circus that’s currently out there. I knew the hosts from The Hollywood Outsider, which is a fun show, so I thought I'd give this a shot and it's surprisingly great. This idea is pretty clever, and one I haven't found in true crime before, plus the hosts do a very good job of balancing seriousness and humor in a very dark world. Looking forward to more crimes and the movies they "inspired". Hopefully a few I know better than these initial two (good episodes, don't get me wrong, just did not know the movies the cases were based on). Loving this!
