Under Cover of Knight

This podcast didn’t go where one would expect but it ends up encapsulating so many things about human nature. I don’t think anyone on the team is a mother because if they were they’d understand how painful it would be giving up a child. We see things through our own life experiences & to me it was so obvious; she had a traumatic childhood & she was running from that & the hurt of having to give up her children. She chased her father down & felt abandonment. Then had her babies taken from her, further having things leave her. Who would want to stay in a place with those memories? Who would want to admit those things? So she never returned home to live & made up stories so she wouldn’t be further asked. She also likely felt to be needed. And she found a place is rural Texas that let her escape those memories & made good friends who made her feel special. As for her death. I think when death occurs to someone so young our minds try to come up with stories. Did the guy who said she called, was he a drinker and maybe had a dream while drunk? The CIA thing. Did one person say it & another while high or drunk imagine the same thing? One great thing this podcast proves is our memories are fallible. And sometimes we can’t even trust our own minds. About her death - she had heart problems and flu can hit the heart. Was the heart examined microscopically to determine if there was myocarditis? Still several different explanations left unexplored but all in all a good story about how one person ties so many together.

Seems like they try to make a story from nothing. Bad…

Story changes information inconsistently missing data, missing hard drives and missing information are not the same thing. They also cut non dramatic quotes and make them cliffhangers. It’s not good

Will admit I stopped around episode 9- but as the conclusion becomes obvious to any adult- (25 year old memories are unreliable and hiding the truth is a normal part of the human experience)- one of the narrators gently tries to nudge the other with that truth. And why this podcast fails comes out- rather than pivoting- the young team worries that the obvious conclusion makes a bad story. The truth is every humans story- particularly this one- could be interesting, if told the right way. Continuing to report and perseverate on unreliable single source information that becomes obviously impossible and because you want the sensational to be true doesn’t make it true. It just becomes irritating. Better luck finding something you find interesting next time- and if you finally reached the conclusions I mentioned- sorry I couldn’t slog through and wait on you to see what was right in front of you.
