Today we’re talking with a veteran educator who has built a media program that has 200 students involved (9-12). I’m excited to share my conversation with Robb Goff at Kearney High School. He has been at Kearney for 17 years and has been leading their Striv program for 6 years. During our chat, Robb shares the story of their first experience with Striv and his students’ reaction, how one video that he created turned into a four-year program, and the importance of teaching students how to create digital media content in high school.

Today we’re talking with a math teacher who fell in love with broadcasting. I’m excited to share my conversation with Jeremy Fries at Seward High School. He has been a part of the Striv program for 7 years total both at Crete and now at Seward. Jeremy shares how he started a broadcasting program, why students were engaged in helping with events, and how they are taking the Seward Bluejay Network to the next level this year.

Today we’re talking with a golf expert turned educator who has taken their school’s live stream the next step! This program is a great example of what can happen when you get buy-in from your admin team at a small school. I’m excited to share our conversation with Mellissa Donohoe at Mullen Public Schools. She has been the Striv Coach at Mullen for the last 3 years and has turned their program into something that students are excited about. Mellissa shares what they’ve learned going from streaming on an iPad to their entire 8th grade class helping produce their stream, how they have connected streaming with learning in the classroom and the importance of creating a content calendar along with communication and collaboration.

Today we’re talking with an educator who has gone from an automated camera system to a thriving student-driven multi-camera broadcast. This program is a great example of what can happen when you turn your school’s live stream into a FUN learning opportunity. I’m excited to share our conversation with Jason Daffer at Broken Bow High School. He has been the Striv Coach at Broken Bow for the last 3 years and has turned their program into something special for students to be a part of. Jason shares what they’ve learned going from an automated system to having 15 students helping during a broadcast, how they have sold $10k in advertising during their broadcasts and the importance of providing feedback and training to students in their program.

Today we’re talking with a business teacher turned Striv Coach. He’s a great example of going all-in on helping provide student opportunities through streaming & new media education. He is in his third year leading the Striv program at York which was one of the first #strivschools to join us nearly 10 years ago. Levi shares how he’s integrated streaming events into his classroom, the importance of teaching the basics when it comes to training students, and what’s next for their program.
