Funny, calm option

My husband turned me on to Judge John Hodgman and I love it. The only problem is that now I’ve fallen in love with Jesse Thorn. The camaraderie between John and Jesse is a pleasure to listen to. In the midst of lighthearted justice, there is some genuinely good advice. This podcast is a great choice for fun, easy to listen to option.

Great, with caveats

It’s a funny podcast with the majority of people too scared to make a decision about mundane topics (A case of why my friend doesn’t follow me on Twitter, for example). Most of the topics are passive hipster arguments and if you are a straight male, you are pretty much in the wrong.

I used to listen to this podcast for a year, but in the past couple of months have been put off by some of the shaming of alpha men. If you are a beta male, whose biggest worry is what craft beer won’t offend anybody than this podcast is for you.

The final decisions are usually compromises that would have happened if the parties would actually talk to each other, instead of passive aggressively trying to avoid conflict. Guess what, sometimes conflict is good.

The banter and cultural references are fun and humorous. As far as the hosts, they have a good rapport with each other and it definitely shows. However, most of the time they try to prove which one is the most liberal and who can produce the most hipster smug of showing how “woke” they are.

If you want a podcast that is funny with cultural references and want to see how mundane topics (My son doesn’t want to go to prom) and the art of subtle woke shaming, this podcast is for you.
