The "streaming wars" are here, but they're not what you think—or rather, where you think. While competitors are duking it out in the US, Netflix wants to take over the world.

Money to burn; why Wall Street loves NFLX
Netflix owes around $15 billion, yet it continues to spend money billions each year to fund its original programming. Is this a brilliant move to set it apart from the competition or a house of cards ready to collapse?

Netflix vs. Hollywood | Part 1
Loaning out shows and movies to Netflix used to be a great way for studios to make a little money on the side, until they realized they were training audiences everywhere to watch Netflix. In this episode, we look at how Netflix went from renting content—and breathing new life into shows like Breaking Bad and The Office — to investing heavily in original content and changing Hollywood forever.

Did the algorithm make you watch Tiger King?
Netflix’s recommendation algorithm is supposed to find you TV and movies that you’ll like — and that will keep you paying for Netflix. But is Netflix really showing you stuff you want to watch, or just stuff that Netflix made?

Customer Reviews
Excellent storytelling
Awesome narrative alongside solid journalism.
Great first season
The first season was amazing! Well done. However, I agree with what others have said about Season 2: that it appears to be an ad for Netflix, including pushing some of their shows. Some jarring interviews.
Managed satisfaction
This podcast just showed up in my recommenced list (I wonder what kind of algorithm Apple Podcasts uses?) and I listened to a couple episodes, and I’m so glad it did show up, because I’ve been looking for something like this! Let me explain. I love Disney+, and since it launched I’ve seen and heard things comparing it to Netflix, but nothing comparing it to Netflix when they first got into streaming. It’s easy to forget how Netflix started, but it’s so interesting to hear the story of how they rose through the ranks to basically become the king of Hollywood. I don’t know how much of this information I’ll retain, so I might need to listen to the whole season again. I’d love it it if you did a season on Disney, though it might have to be longer than 7 or 8 episodes, as Disney has been around a lot longer than Netflix or Amazon!
