Excellent
Candid, clear and very close readings of Lacan’s essential essays. I have really loved this podcast and hope he gives us more.
Thank you!
Nuanced and Clarifying Lectures
My sincere thanks to Dr. McCormick for these recordings. The lectures I’ve heard so far are excellent explications of a complex but, to my mind, essential psychoanalytic thinker. Keep ‘em coming!
Weirdly anti-psychotic
This man has some clearly personal and intense dislike or fear of psychotics. He speaks about them frequently (esp but not always in distinction from psychosis) with such disdain and dismissal that it becomes hard to listen to. This negative affect is such a non-Lacanian approach to psychosis, it is bizarre and feels deeply personal and coming from some place in him. Some of us are psychotically organized! We listen and also participate in the world in the ways we can! It’s infuriating to hear the non-scholarly and personalized way he approaches it. Spoils every episode it’s mentioned in for me.
