Little Joys in Teaching and Learning Medical Education Matters

    • Education

The end of the year is a time for big celebrations, family, and keeping warm (at least here in Wisconsin). With all those big things going on, we wanted to take a moment to recognize the little joys in teaching and learning, things we might otherwise overlook but that are so important to be grateful for.
To start the episode, Jeff and Anita talk with Kari Schultz, an education program coordinator on the MCW-Central Wisconsin campus. Starting after Thanksgiving, Kari posts a daily holiday wear and festive decoration photo on her Facebook profile, including special guests. She brings a little bit of holiday joy to her viewers every day, her own holiday spirit squad. You can follow Kari and see her photos here: https://www.facebook.com/kari.schultz.9
After that, we consider five categories of little joys, and you can use these timestamps to jump to whatever little joy you want to consider, or just listen to them all.
00:24—Talking with Kari Schultz
12:09—Little Joys In The Classroom
17:20—In Professional Growth and Development
23:48—Collaborations with Colleagues
29:06—Epiphanies in Teaching
35:47—Making a Difference in the World through Education
Here's a link to the article Jeff mentions: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2023/11/231129174202.htm
And to the food pantry that Anita talks about: https://www.peytonspromise.org/
