In 2014, Dutch friends Lisanne Froon and Kris Kremers disappeared while hiking a jungle trail in Panama. Two months later, investigators found their remains, as well as a backpack with a digital camera filled with photos that hinted at a darker story. What happened to Kris and Lisanne? In this investigative series, journalists Mariana Atencio and Jeremy Kryt retrace the last steps of the doomed women. Their search for the truth immerses them in eight years’ worth of conflicting evidence, testimonies, and rumors, as on-the-ground witnesses in Panama come forward for the first time. This explosive new evidence sets off a real-time race to reopen the case, and finally get justice for Kris and Lisanne.

Captivating

I don’t usually listen to podcasts, but wow, this is a good one! The recent episodes have been fantastic- the shift from the first season is noticeable, but it’s a welcomed change. I love the way the stories are being narrated, and the mix of the host’s voice with the interviews creates a captivating experience. Highly recommend giving it a listen!
Terrible investigation driven by hearsay

Without any evidence of foul play, uses hearsay to draw conclusions. If this podcast had been made during the Salem witch trials, they’d have concluded that more witches got away with witchcraft because many people they talked to said that they saw someone who saw something.

hilarious they kept saying their sources fear for their lives and are only agreeing to talk if their identities are kept secret. Then, they proceed to say the source is the forensic anthropologist that analyzed their remains and they reveal where he lives. They also use the first name of another woman and use her real voice in interviews. 🙄
All based on rumor and gossip

Not sure what the point of this series was. It really stretches to seem like there was a conspiracy to this story and ends up no where. At one point in the show a producer even says the hosts are trying to drum up drama for a good story rather than investigate the tragic story of two women going missing. There could be something there to investigating women being victimized but this stories angle is a stretch to brining that awareness.
