Mighty Parenting Review

Teens in the dating world vary from generation to generation. I listened to the [Mighty Parenting episode 140], and I learned about the new teen dating life and similarities with the old teen dating life during this episode. One thing that both Sandy Fowler (host) and JoBeth Evens (guest host) agree on that is common with all generations of dating is that when dating you need to have boundaries. I think this is extremely important because teens need to understand that boundaries are set to have a healthy relationship. This helps with opening up communication and having trust between partners. One difference between the generations is that now on social media teens are using dating apps, Snapchat, tik tok, and Instagram just to hook up. One way JoBeth on how to be safer when meeting someone online is to have a friend come with you to a restaurant with the person you are meeting up with to make sure the person you met online is who they say they are. Sandy and JoBeth's biggest advice for parents is to be open and ask questions like, “That’s nice you are meeting up with them, are any of your friends and their friends going to be there with you?” These are simple things to do just to assure your teens' safety when meeting someone online for the first time. In Conclusion with listening to this episode, I have learned how to support the teens in their new age of dating and to encourage teens to be safe and to set boundaries when dating. I would rate this podcast five stars. The advice for parents and teens was amazing. And for the recognition of how teens are dating now. It is very up to date and very insightful.
