The Mises Institute exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian school of economics, and individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard. These great thinkers developed praxeology, a deductive science of human action based on premises known with certainty to be true, and this is what we teach and advocate. Our scholarly work is founded in Misesian praxeology, and in self-conscious opposition to the mathematical modeling and hypothesis-testing that has created so much confusion in neoclassical economics.

    An Essay on Economic Theory

    An Essay on Economic Theory

TAGS Austrian Economics  Richard CantillonCantillon's Essai sur la Nature du Commerce en Général should be rightfully considered one of the most important books ever written. It is the first statement of economic theory and not just a single or limited breakthrough, but a comprehensive treatment that explains the organization of commercial society. Prior to Cantillon, writings about the economy were largely driven by considerations of religion, ideology, and interests groups. After Cantillon, there was a scientific model that could be understood and applied. Most importantly, when it was properly understood and applied, it unleashed the market economy and generated great prosperity (from the Introduction). This audio book is made available through the generosity of Mr. Tyler Folger. It is narrated by Millian Quinteros. Download audio fileREAD MORE

    Defending the Undefendable 2

TAGS Free Markets Monopoly and Competition Subjectivism Walter BlockThe true test of our commitment to personal liberty doesn't come when we permit others to engage in those peaceable, voluntary acts with which we agree. It comes when we permit others to engage in peaceable, voluntary acts we find offensive. Walter Block's Defending the Undefendable II contains thirty chapters defending behavior that is probably offensive to most Americans, and many that are downright illegal. This book features a foreword by Ron Paul. Narrated by Patrick Smith. A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism

A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism

TAGS  Calculation and Knowledge Interventionism Political Theory  Hans-Hermann Hoppe's first treatise in English — actually his first book in English — and the one that put him on the map as a social thinker and economist to watch. He argued that there are only two possible archetypes in economic affairs: socialism and capitalism. All systems are combinations of those two types. The capitalist model he defines as pure protection of private property, free association, and exchange — no exceptions. All deviations from that ideal are species of socialism, with public ownership and interference with trade. Narrated by Jim Vann. Download audio file READ MORE

Ignore the trolls and paid activists who leave negative reviews

Explore on your own terms. Maybe the Austrian School isn't for you. Maybe it changes your life. Only a fool and intellectual coward can read the collective work of Hayek, Mises, Menger, Hazlitt, etc. and find no value.

Treasure Trove

This is a treasure trove of audio books on Austrian Economics, libertarian political theory, history, culture, etc. Finished listening to Betrayal of the American Right by Rothbard and the quality of narration made listening to this book not only less boring, but entertaining to me!

High quality, great content.
