E87 Do You Believe In Magic? Bringing Awe & Presence Into Your Daily Life

As adults, we often lose touch with the magic we once felt as children. In this episode, I reflect on a heartfelt conversation with my daughter about missing the magic of Santa and the elf on the shelf—and how it inspired me to explore how we can rekindle a sense of magic in our everyday lives. I dive into the concept of awe: that breathtaking feeling of wonder and interconnectedness we experience in nature, art, music, or quiet moments of reflection. Awe is not just for children—it’s a profoundly healing emotion for adults, too. Studies even show that awe can reduce inflammation and bring a sense of calm to our nervous systems. I share practical tips for seeking awe intentionally and recognizing its signs, like a sense of spaciousness, slowed thoughts, and connection to something greater than ourselves. I also revisit an early spiritual teaching that has deeply impacted my life: the importance of present moment awareness, as inspired by Eckhart Tolle. Living in the present is the key to personal growth, happiness, and rediscovering magic, but it takes intentional effort in today’s distracted world. I share simple practices to slow down and reconnect, such as pausing to appreciate nature, music, art, and even the everyday miracles of modern life. As we enter the holiday season, I encourage you to find magic in the little moments, cherish the beauty around you, and step into 2025 with awe and present-moment awareness. Let’s create a year filled with joy, wonder, and connection! If you enjoyed this episode, please share it with a friend who might need a reminder to find the magic in their life. This week I am re-releasing my number 1 downloaded episode. There is so much to learn from this conversation. Karen is a beautiful combination of knowledge, experience and heart. I hope you enjoy and being to fell safe enough to examine your own limiting beliefs and break them wide open. Authenticity is knowing who you are beyond your limiting beliefs and sharing that human with the world. - Karen Caton- Brunings is a certified life, health and authenticity coach. She shares her background and how she found her way to authenticity coaching after learning that she had built a life based on limiting beliefs that made her feel uncomfortable with who she was as an authentic little girl. Karen shares her experience of being lonely and depressed at the age of 38 and being locked in a battle between her authentic self and her constructed version of herself. She decided to lean into her authenticity and rewrite her story from a place of authenticity. She started using authenticity in her work as a personal trainer and found that it transformed her way of doing business and relationships. Karen became an authenticity coach, creating a space for people to rediscover who they are beyond their limiting beliefs.I absolutely adored this conversation with Karen. You will be able to feel her loving energy radiate through the air and straight into your soul. She is a permission giver. A cheerleader. She gives you the courage to be unapologetically you. And when we can do that, it impacts every single aspect of our lives. I spent a long time feeling like a stranger in my own life and not knowing how to get back to myself. If that's you, this conversation will be a light on your path home.Below is Karen's website if you would like to work with her as a coach. E84 Reclaiming Play and Purpose: A Meditation

In this episode or “Dharmasode,” I explore the profound connection between play, self-discovery, and finding your soul’s purpose. As adults, we often lose touch with the joy of play, but what if reconnecting with it could unlock your true potential and align you with your dharma? I introduce the concept of Leela, or divine play, from yogic philosophy, which teaches us to embrace the joy of the process rather than focusing solely on the outcome. Play is not just for kids; it’s a divine gift that calms the nervous system, fosters self-awareness, and strengthens relationships. Through guided meditations and reflective exercises, I invite you to revisit your childhood, reconnect with your inner child, and rediscover the activities that once brought you joy. Whether it’s storytelling, exploring, or creating, these moments of reflection can help you tap into your soul’s purpose. Plus, I share exciting news about my upcoming Yoga for Skillful Living series starting this January. I’d love to hear from YOU! What topics would you like me to cover in the series? E83 The Power of Mindset and Sobriety with Jen Evans

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Mom on the Verge. I’m Katie, your host, and I’m thrilled to share today’s conversation with Jen Evans, someone I connected with on so many levels. Jen is a former labor and delivery nurse—just like me!—who made the powerful decision to pivot her career and become a Certified Life Coach. She specializes in mindset coaching and truly believes in the power of our beliefs to help us create a life we love. In this episode, we dive deep into the importance of mindset, personal transformation, and living a sober life. Jen’s Journey from Nursing to Life Coaching: Jen shares her story of working for 18 years as a nurse and how she brought her clinical expertise and triage skills into her life coaching practice. She talks about how she empowers clients to thrive, not just survive, and find clarity in their lives. Mindset and Belief Systems: We talk about how the beliefs we hold, both conscious and unconscious, shape our reality. Jen’s story is a testament to the power of mindset work. Choosing Sobriety for Growth: Jen opens up about her decision to stop drinking, not because she had a severe problem, but because she felt alcohol was numbing her ability to face emotions and grow. She shares how this choice allowed her to step into her best self, deepening her relationships and self-awareness. Letting Go of Judgment: Jen and I discuss how freeing it is to let go of worrying about others' opinions. Jen shares how embracing this mindset has helped her show up more authentically in social situations. Facing Discomfort Head-On: We talk about the power of looking inward when facing discomfort, rather than turning to numbing behaviors like overeating, shopping, or over-consuming media. Embracing Self-Awareness and Compassion: We dive into how these two elements can help us identify unhelpful patterns and create lasting change. Jen emphasizes the importance of feeling emotions fully, which, while challenging, helps them pass more quickly and facilitates growth. Grieving Through Change: We discuss why even positive changes come with a sense of loss and why acknowledging that grief is essential to personal transformation. Self-Awareness is Key: Understanding your thoughts and beliefs can lead to powerful life shifts. Sobriety as a Mindset Shift: Letting go of habits that don’t serve us can open doors to greater self-discovery. Authenticity Without Judgment: Releasing the fear of others’ opinions can help you live more freely and connect more deeply. Embracing Discomfort: Growth happens when we face our fears and sit with our feelings, no matter how uncomfortable. Mindful Living and Compassion: Cultivating these practices can lead to more intentional and fulfilling experiences. Jen Evans is a Certified Life Coach and Registered Nurse with 18 years of clinical nursing experience. Jen combines her deep understanding of human connection and triage skills to provide personalized 1:1 coaching where clients feel truly seen and empowered. Specializing in mindset coaching, she believes in using the power of belief to help people design a life they love. E82 How Service Leads to Purpose and Living Your Dharma

Hello My Friends! Welcome back to another minisode of Mom on the Verge. This week, I'm diving into the profound connection between discovering your purpose, known as Dharma, and the transformative power of service. As we head into the busy holiday season, it's a perfect time to reflect on the importance of giving—not just for others, but for ourselves. Service is a portal to experiencing deeper feelings of joy, gratitude, and love. When we embrace our authentic selves and serve in alignment with our soul’s purpose, we uplift our lives and the world around us. In this episode, I share practical steps for uncovering your Dharma, including essential questions like: Who do I want to serve? How do I want to serve? and How do I want the people I serve to feel? I also discuss letting go of external influences—from cultural norms to societal expectations—to truly align with your inner calling. I explore how expressing your Dharma can take many forms: educating, caretaking, advocating for causes you’re passionate about, or nurturing conscious communities. Whether it’s helping at a nonprofit, caring for animals, or supporting environmental efforts, the ways to serve and fulfill your purpose are endless. I also offer insights into why service isn't just a selfless act but a source of personal fulfillment. When we step into our Dharma, we open ourselves to authentic expression, internal peace, and a deep sense of satisfaction.
