What is a money coach? So many people are out there claiming to be able to tell you how to make the most of your money. Some of these folks have financial credentials, while others don't. Trying to figure out who to trust can be a big deal. Nicole explains what a money coach does, pointing out that coaching has fewer regulations and is a different beast from financial advising. It's also important to note that a financial coach doesn't do the same thing as a financial advisor and won't manage your money for you. Additionally, while some organizations recognize coaches, anyone can call themselves a coach and take your money. We have a great article on how to choose a financial advisor that works for you. What can a financial coach do for you? While a financial coach isn't usually a credentialed financial professional, they can still help you on your financial journey. Here are some of the ways a money coach might be able to provide you with insights into your finances: Exercises to help you understand your relationship with money Help you understand your financial values Set money priorities that make sense for you See money as a tool to help you achieve your goals rather than being the end goal Make a change to how you view money We also talk a little bit about financial shame and how some gurus, like Dave Ramsey, focus on that aspect to motivate you rather than finding positive motivation.
