08: Linking diversity with profit, engagement and wellbeing - a chat with Dope Black Dad Marvyn Harrison

08: Linking diversity with profit, engagement and wellbeing - a chat with Dope Black Dad Marvyn Harrison

Welcome back to No More Long Talk. In this episode I had the pleasure to speak with the founder and driving force behind Dope Black CIC Marvyn Harrison. Dope Black is an educational and healing platform designed to improve the outcomes of black people. He is also the Vice President for Business Strategy at Belovd Agency.

Marvyn is dedicating his future to supporting businesses and organisations in their evolution to becoming more representative of the diverse cities.

Take a listen as we talk all about diversity, inclusion and equity and have a frank conversation on what will happen to businesses who don’t eventually get on board. I’m not being biased here, but I think you will get a lot from listening to Marvyn as he shares his views.

A heads up for next week’s episode. If you follow me on LinkedIn and Instagram, you’ll already know that I’m a huge advocate of self care and wellness in the work. So I’m going to take up on my own advice and take another wellness weekend break which means I won’t be bringing you an episode of No More Long Talk next week.

But don’t worry, I’ll be back on Monday 19th October for another fab episode. In the meantime follow me on LinkedIn or instagram @NoMoreLongTalk.

Welcome back to your weekly dose of No More Long Talk, where today's podcast comes with a twist as I share my own reflections of the past 6 months through the lens of internal comms, D&I and employee wellbeing. This is a really interesting episode to listen to (if I must say so myself)!

I feel that it's important to reflect over the time of successes and challenges that we've all experienced since 2020 has started.

Listen in as I share my thoughts and some key tips for each area so you can also reflect on your role and the impact you have. Listen to the end as I answer a couple of questions from the LinkedIn audience.

06: Weaponise your uniqueness, better together - why diversity and comms teams need each other and you best check your biases!

Welcome back to your weekly dose of No More Long Talk, where today's podcast comes with a twist as I share a webinar that I organised and hosted as part of this series to talk all about how about how diversity and comms teams can work better together in order to advance the diversity agenda to create more inclusive workplaces with belonging.

I chatted with my fabulous panel speakers Russell Norton from scarlettabbott, Catherine Grinyer from Big Voice Communications, April Williams - a D&I Champion and HR and recruitment specialist and Toby Mildon - a Diversity & Inclusion Architect and founder of Mildon, a consultancy and advisory business.

This episode is for anyone who works in comms - internal, external, marketing or PR. It’s for anyone who works in diversity and inclusion, HR, senior leaders or CEOs who have a diversity remit in their job.

You may not work in any of these roles but just have an interest in this subject - it's also for you. There’s a Q&A at the end, so an opportunity to hear even more thoughts on this subject.

You will leave this episode with:

A clearer understanding in what you can do to advance your D&I vision

What work you might need to do on yourself - self awareness is key!

What you need to do to create inclusive communications and

How to encourage people to share their authenticity at work
