Viktor Arvidsson needs to get going, and two more Oilers games before the break

It's Wednesday afternoon, meaning it's time for a fresh episode of the world's greatest podcast. On this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never, I'm begging Connor McDavid to shoot more, wondering when Viktor Arvidsson will stop falling down, and wading through the noise surrounding Stuart Skinner. I kicked off the Wednesday episode of BLTN with a recap of the week, including my gripes with the weather, the Real Life golf league, and a tease about a former Oiler who could soon be working with us. I also followed through on my promise to give away a BLTN hoodie for a listener who sent me a picture of their podcast review. I also promised to do these more often because they really do help the podcast grow, and I also want to keep rewarding listeners for playing along. Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, I started with a quick recap of Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Blues. The Oilers almost lost that one due to a four-minute stretch of disastrous hockey in the third period, so I couldn't help but wonder what's going on with these in-game lulls lately. If I'm putting my detective's hat on for a minute, it almost seems like we've got a flu running through the team right now or something. Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a pair of guest Righteous Sack Beatings, before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails that were all over the map. The inbox was slow and steady again this week, but I still got plenty of laughs from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. As always, I sat back and laughed while listening to everything that's been on your mind over the last seven days. 💻 Website: https://oilersnation.com/  Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/himynameisbaggedmilk/ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jsbmbaggedmilk SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼 Star Mechanical: https://starmechanical.ca/  👍🏼 Odd Company Brewing: https://www.oddcompany.ca/ Hosted on Acast. Connor McDavid is hot, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is too, and only posts can stop Leon Draisaitl

Better Lait Than Never is the best part of your Wednesday, isn't it? Of course it is. This week, we're recapping the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament, praising Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, taking your voicemails, and a bunch more. After the wildfires devastated Jasper last summer, we understandably didn't know that the pond hockey tournament at the Jasper Park Lodge would be held this year. Yet, as the months rolled along, our friends at Tourism Jasper told us that we'd be heading back for the fourth consecutive January, and I could not have been more excited to get back out there. As always, the tournament couldn't have been more fun. Looking at our beloved Edmonton Oilers, how could I not start with the return of Connor McDavid? After three games in jail, McDavid returned to the lineup against the Seattle Kraken and made an impact on the scoresheet almost immediately. It was another one of those games where the boys were flat to start for whatever reason, and thanks to a tying from No. 97, they were able to rally back for a third straight win. Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about paper straws before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails that were all over the map. The inbox was nicely quiet again this week, but I still got plenty of laughs from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. Connor McDavid's suspension, Oilers lose two straight, and a Dollars for Dogs thank you

Wednesday afternoon can only mean one thing: The weird niche podcast you listen to is back with a fresh episode. On this week's Better Lait Than Never, I wrapped up the Dollars for Dogs campaign with a thank you to everyone who participated, looked at Connor McDavid's three-game suspension, and much more. I kicked off this week's podcast by thanking everyone who participated in the Dollars for Dogs campaign with me this past week. Despite the absurdity of the bit, we raised over $6000 for SCARS Animal Rescue here in Edmonton, and I couldn't be happier about how things went. Now that this is over, the trick will be to get myself back on a regular diet without shocking my insides after a gruelling week of salt and dogs. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I started the news with a quick recap of the Connor McDavid suspension. Given that everyone has already talked about McDavid getting three games at length, I shifted focus to the hilarious statement the Oilers made yesterday in solidarity with their captain. I don't know why the team thought they needed to put something out the way they did, but I sure had a healthy chuckle watching the internet overreact again. Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with another guest Righteous Sack Beating from Dooks before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quiet again for the fourth consecutive week, but I still got a healthy chuckle from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. Oilers wins, Connor McDavid's birthday, and so many hot dogs

It's Wednesday evening, which means a new episode of Better Lait Than Never has been recorded, edited, and mastered to perfection. With all of my editing chops put to the test, this week's podcast is ready to massage your brain feelings with an hour of Oilers-adjacent discussion. I kicked off this week's podcast with an update on the Dollars for Dogs campaign that kicked off on Monday. As much as I thought it would be fun to eat nothing but hot dogs for as long as possible, eating only glizzies and nothing else has proven to be difficult. The good news is that we've already raised over $1000 for charity, and I also had a pair of tickets to give away on today's episode courtesy of Mistaken Mexican. With my own nonsense out of the way, I turned the podcast back toward the Edmonton Oilers. Starting with Monday's 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Not only was Skinner fantastic between the pipes, but that may have been one of the Oilers' best defensive efforts all season. Needless to say, it was a big win. On the downside, the Kings are a dirty hockey club, and there is no better example than the $5000 fine Adrian Kempe was hit with for slew-footing. Even with Kapanen jumping in immediately, that play re-sparked my concerns about the Oilers getting tougher. Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a guest edition of the Righteous Sack Beating before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quiet again for the third consecutive week, but I still got a healthy chuckle from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. Why the Oilers are undefeated in 2025

It's Wednesday evening, which means a new episode of Better Lait Than Never has been recorded, edited, and mastered to perfection. It is ready to massage your brain feelings with an hour of Oilers-adjacent discussion. I kicked off this week's podcast with a random collection of topics from my life, including my first taste of Vikings disappointment, how bad I suck at PS5, a recap of another horrible dating show, and a preview of Dollars for Dogs. As always, the first few minutes of the podcast were all over the map, which is almost a real-time look at how my brain works. I also offered another plea to everyone listening about why they should join us on the Nation Vacation to Vegas, and how waiting too long could mean you miss out. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I started with a quick recap of last night's 4-0 beatdown of the Boston Bruins and how that was one of the most complete games the boys have played all season. Not only did they win that game, but it wasn't ever close, and things could have really gotten out of hand had it not been for Jeremy Swayman. I also touched on some secondary point streaks that have kicked up lately and how important it is for Edmonton's success to have players not named McDavid and Draisaitl contributing regularly. Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about the Oilers needing to get tougher before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quiet again for the third consecutive week, but I still got a healthy chuckle from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. As always, I sat back and laughed while listening to everything that's been on your mind over the last seven days. Want to leave a voicemail for next week’s show?
