For Us was created to give a platform to people of color to sustain themselves and create a legacy, by bringing highlight to resources, accomplishments, and opportunities. For Us Nation began as a podcast show under  Perky Perspectives, and developed into a non profit in order to connect various communities through community and enhancements of education, resources and opportunities. For Us was founded by Ashley Perkins, a Licensed Master Level Social Worker with a MSW from Columbia University, activist, herbalist,  a podcast curator, business consultant, event planner and Tahyira Arias, Masters of Science, Long Island University, CEO, Founder of The Red Eye Media group, journalist, musical artist, actress, activist, and more. 

For Us is focused on community and community led activism. Through the community we will teach and grow together, and most importantly sustain our legacies. For Us Nation has always put a large focus on building community and education. Our core chapters are beginning in California and New York.

Today’s topic: Micah owns Revel Spirits and chats mental strength and balance

GUEST: Micah McFarlane is founder and CEO of REVEL Spirits, an innovative agave spirit made naturally in Morelos, Mexico. Micah has over twenty years as an executive in the entertainment industry managing all aspects of multi-million-dollar tours for artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Dwight Yoakam, Bob Newhart and Blondie. His experience spans logistics planning, contract negotiations, sales & marketing, extensive festival production, sponsorship sales and talent buying. He is an entrepreneur, co-founding and operating a successful management company, which engaged in active and aggressive promotions, tour coordination, booking, career planning and scheduling.

When launching REVEL, Micah wanted to do something incredibly bold and different – so he created an entirely new category under the agave umbrella called Avila, which is a handcrafted agave-based spirit, often thought of as the lovechild of tequila and mezcal. He is now joined by part owner and celebrity Justin Hartley and has launched four Avila products, Revel Avila Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo and canned cocktail the REVEL Avila Spritz. Your nonprofit expresses the stories of many different groups and populations. Which of the groups do you feel is the most misunderstood? 



Why is storytelling so important? 



How can people reach out to you to tell their stories?

How old were you when you wrote your very first story? What triggered you to create those characters?
