    Narcissistic Parental Alienation

    Narcissistic Parental Alienation

    Episode Introduction:
Do you feel your child drifting away from you? Your child may be a victim of Narcissistic Parental Alienation. Tune in to learn more!

    Episode Summary:
In this week’s episode of the Rise Station Podcast, we’re talking all about Narcissistic Parental Alienation and what it entails.

We start by discussing the signs of parental alienation and then go on to talk about the DOs and DON’Ts as a victim of it.

If you’re looking to improve your relationship with a child who’s been affected by this, check out the complete episode for tangible strategies on how to do so.

    Rise Tribe Takeaways:

Parental alienation occurs when one parent encourages their child to unfairly reject the other parent.

    Signs of Parental Alienation:
The child is full of hatred toward the targeted parent.
The child doesn’t have factual or logical reasoning behind their hostility toward the targetted parent.
In case of conflict, the child is more likely to side with the narcissistic parent than the targetted parent.

If your child is showing signs of alienation, DO NOT do the following:
Beg your child to cooperate with you.
Put yourself in an equal position as your child.
    Demonstrate weakness.
    Act without compassion.
    Exude a lack of confidence.
Spend little time with your children.
    Ignore your intuition.
    Make every situation a crisis.
Forget you’re in a psychological battle.
    Give away your power.

If your child is showing signs of alienation, DO the following:
    Get support.
    Take care of yourself.
    Stay consistent.
Understand that this is a psychological battle.
Be confident in your decision-making and your ability to lead.
    Show empathy.
    Spend time with your child.
Reflect their actions back to them.
    Give choices whenever you can.
    Respond rather than react.

When a narcissist can no longer control you, they will try to control how others view you.

The constant inclination to focus on others.
    Difficulty identifying and expressing feelings.
Valuing the approval of a loved one over their own self-acceptance.
    Being loyal to a fault.
Avoiding rejection by jeopardizing one’s own values.
    Refusing to compromise.
Taking on one’s partner’s feelings as if they were their own.
Becoming resentful when someone doesn’t accept one’s help.

    3 Stages of Co-dependency:
    The Consumption Stage
    The Self-Abandonment Stage
    The Self-Rejection Stage

How to break the cycle of co-dependency:
