BEST OF #thePOZcast: Dave Scatchard: (PART 2) Journey from NHL Enforcer to Recovery from Near-Death

FIRST AIRED 1/28/22 Part 1: https://www.thepozcast.com/dave-scatchard-journey-from-nhl-enforcer-to-recovery-from-near-death-part-1/ Dave Scatchard is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre. He played in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators, and St. Louis Blues. In 2011, Dave suffered a career-ending injury that would lead him through a period of physical, mental, and spiritual turmoil that would change the course of his life. After doctors at the Mayo Clinic released him when they determined the lasting effects of Dave’s injuries were irreversible, he turned to a variety of holistic medicines, coaches and other resources looking for a solution. The result of his journey would not only lead Dave through a full recovery and spiritual awakening; it would also drive him to create All Start Coaching, where he helps athletes and other professionals face and overcome challenges similar to those that he went through firsthand. Part Two: In the final part of my sit down conversation with Dave, we talk about the heavy-hitting journey through his physical, mental, and spiritual trials and tribulations. The same game that earned Dave millions of dollars, the actualization of his hopes and dreams, and led him to meet the love of his life in his wife, was what would ultimately lead him to the darkest period of his life. Dave struggled as he lost his memory, turned to alcohol, and was told that he would be permanently disabled. At that moment, he could’ve taken the doctor’s advice and accepted his diagnosis. If that we’re the case, there’d be no part two to this story, no All Star Coaching, and no retribution. Join us on this very special episode of The POZcast as we talk about Dave’s amazing comeback.
