706 | Coffee to Go | Sixth Sunday of Easter

Live, eat, breathe, speak, act in love toward one another ... even those who seem unlovable.  That’s a tall order, but that is what is expected of one who “journeys with Jesus.” Join hosts Karin Peter and Blake Smith for another week of “abiding.” Be prepared for a week of deep and abiding love. We’ve said it before and it bears saying again... “nobody said being a disciple would be easy.”  But don’t be discouraged.  We’re all in this together, and we can do it!!

703 | Coffee to Go | Fifth Sunday of Easter

WARNING: This episode may make those with small personal space a little uncomfortable because things are going to get a little “clingy.” That’s right, this week Jesus tells his disciples (and us) that he is the vine and we are the branches. The goal ... bearing fruit. And, in order to bear fruit, the branches need to cling to (a.k.a. abide in) the vine. Those who don’t ... well, we hear tell that the vine grower is not afraid to use the pruning shears... just sayin’. Grab a cup of your favorite morning brew and join hosts, Karin Peter and Blake Smith, for a walk with Jesus in the vineyard.

As part of our ongoing celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the ordination of women in Community of Christ, we’re bringing back some excellent interviews with some of the first women to have been ordained as featured in “Women’s Rights.” These podcasts were written, edited and produced by students of David Howlett, scholar of religion in America and professor at Smith College in Northampton, MA, and originally aired in 2020. This episode is a combination of two of those podcasts: Interfaith Ministry and Changes.

Variety of topics, guests, & formats through the lens of Community of Christ

Project Zion does a great job at incorporating a variety of topics and guests into their episodes. That being said, some topics don’t speak to me like others do. Hosts and some guests try to clarify Community of Christ-specific terms and history, but others assume listeners are familiar with the denomination. Some episodes feel more scripted than others. I’ve pulled specific episodes more than once to share with others just because of how meaningful they were to me. I’d recommend this podcast to people interested in Community of Christ or people looking to host their own podcast but needing inspiration on the kinds of formats and topics their own podcast might take.
