#208: The 7 Predictors of Exit Velo | A Case Study with Jarrett Phillips

#208: The 7 Predictors of Exit Velo | A Case Study with Jarrett Phillips

If someone told you they found the 7 predictors of exit velo, would you want to know them? YES. That's exactly what Jarrett Phillips and team discovered.

Jarrett analyzed 250 athletes at his facility across a variety of factors (Proteus test, grip strength, K-VEST sequencing, InBody muscle scan, and OnBaseU mobility assessment) and then ran these data points through a variety of statistical models. Through this analysis they found 7 factors that predict exit velo AND that these 7 factors made up 82% of the variance you see in exit velo.

Curious what these factors are? Listen to the whole podcast to find out.

#207: Eliminating Bias to Best Treat Your Clients with Curtis Van Wyck

#207: Eliminating Bias to Best Treat Your Clients with Curtis Van Wyck

Curtis Van Wyck made a reputation for himself as being the guy people sent their clients when they didn't know what to do next. Post-PT or lingering injuries, Curtis problem solves for his clients and doesn't try to force each into a one-size-fits-all model. His philosophy to coaching? To see each client like a unique piece of clay that needs a individualized plan in order to mold it, stabilize it, and build it. That's even why he calls his facility "the kiln."

And this philosophy bleeds over into his variety of clientele who come through his doors. From high school athletes seeking collegiate recruitment to older populations looking to regain mobility and prevent injury to rehab patients recovering from major surgery, Curtis has seen it all. He's also quickly become a top user of Proteus since he got in this past year. From testing to freestyle, he adapts Proteus per client need and stays ahead of the game so he can give his clients the best care possible.

    --
Husband, father, and a muscle detective is who Curtis is. He has unceasingly pursued his passion in education which has permeated throughout the entirety of his career. Education coupled with his innate desire to help his clients achieve their goals, lends itself to a client-centered approach.
Curtis has worked with a wide variety of athletes, but over time has returned to his roots to work with mainly rotational athletes (baseball & softball).

#204: Retaining Athletes In-Season and Unlocking New Revenue Models with Lauren and Kiel King

#204: Retaining Athletes In-Season and Unlocking New Revenue Models with Lauren and Kiel King

Lauren and Kiel King started Kings of Fitness to fill a void: to prep middle and high school athletes for training at the collegiate level. Cut to the present and they now work with not just top high school athletes but also pro MMA fighters and MLB players. How do they keep them? Through continuously innovating their equipment to be the best of the best.

When they got their Proteus in 2022, their main question was: what is the ROI? They knew the 3D resistance and data tracking abilities outmatched cable machines, but that didn't matter if the machine couldn't generate revenue. Now through monetizing assessments & nearly doubling client sessions via Proteus, they reached ROI in just 4 months--a third of the time that they had predicted. Tune into the whole episode to hear their philosophy towards training top athletes of all ages, how to retain athletes even during their season, and how to open up new revenue models to make more.
