    Cultivating Leadership Resilience When Exhausted

    Cultivating Leadership Resilience When Exhausted

Every leader experiences seasons of exhaustion. It is important to discern between exhaustion and burnout.

Do not let the urgent make you lose sight of the important.

Temporarily avoid the people who drain your energy.

Create a strict schedule that includes enough rest and stick to it.

Dedicate more time to prayer, God's Word, and something that you are passionate about.

Do not internalize setbacks. View them as temporary and use them as a way to discover new opportunities with your team.

What You Should Expect for In-Person Easter Services This Year

What You Should Expect for In-Person Easter Services This Year

Many churches did not hold in-person Easter services last year, but this year we are expecting the majority to do so. While the priority of celebrating the resurrection remains, this Easter may feel differently for people. For some, it will be their first Sunday back in over a year. On this episode, we discuss a few ways to prepare for in-person Easter services and what you can expect from those who plan to attend.

A portion of your congregation is targeting Easter as their first time back.

The nervousness of crowds will not go away by Easter, even with the vaccine.

Your church should welcome people with thoughtful hospitality.

Make a special emphasis and ask people to get reconnected to the church.

People will be more open to follow-up this Easter.

How to Handle an Unruly Business or Leadership Meeting

How to Handle an Unruly Business or Leadership Meeting

On today’s episode of Rainer on Leadership Sam Rainer and Thom Rainer discuss how to handle an unruly business or leadership meeting.

Even the best churches have meetings that go sideways.

Surprise attacks happen, but sometimes you feel something is about to happen.

You often do not have much time to respond, but pray before making a rash decision.

Don't respond viscerally. Try to de-escalate the room.

Cutting someone off usually does not help, even if they are wildly off base.

Parliamentary procedure can be a double-edged sword. Use it wisely.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do, and it's likely not as bad as you think it is. Get some rest.

Another Great Leadership Podcast to Add to Your List

One of the best most practical leadership podcasts out there. I find myself going back to episodes I’ve already listened to because the information Thom and his team provide is just that good.

Oojonli ,

Too Much Family Inside Jokes

I enjoy the topics & guests they have on the podcasts. They offer practical advice in today’s world. Too much time is spent on family jokes & teasing. It is distracting from the important topic on-hand. If the content was not as good as it is I would stop listening.

Jbowl1 ,

Good, but...

Good information. Appreciate, very much, the show notes ... but there is no need for a co-host (who thinks he’s funny, interrupts guests, thinks his views are the greatest and shares inside jokes with his dad - the host). Just present the information and let whoever you are interviewing speak! Thom should do this by himself.
