Ramble-(verb)
1. walk for pleasure, typically without a definite route.
2. talk or write at length in a confused or inconsequential way.

Ramble by the River is about becoming the best human possible.

Join me, Jeff Nesbitt and my guests, as we discuss the blessing that is the human experience in the year 2021. No matter what 2020 brought you, I have some ideas about how to improve the way you see things, and subsequently the way you experience your own life. This show is loosely structured to allow for spontaneous growth into unexpected areas so it is hard to say what will pop up, but common topics will include: technology, culture, education, psychology, drugs, health/fitness, history, politics, investing, blockchain/cryptocurrencies, and many more!

What does it mean to be a person in 2021? Is there really a right and wrong way to do it? We live in a time unlike any other. How has our species changed to accommodate the world that we have so drastically altered? What defines our generation? Where are we going? What is coincidence? Is time a mental construction? What happens after death? Which Jenifer is better looking (Lopez or Anniston)?

Tune in to any one of our exciting upcoming episodes to hear a comedian, a New York Times Best-Selling author, a fancy artist, a plumber, the Mayor of a large urban metropolis, a cancer survivor, a Presidential candidate, Jeff's dad, a female bull-riding champion, the founder of a large non-profit charity organization, Elon Musk, a guarded but eventually lovable country musician, a homeless guy, a homeless woman, a commercial fisherman, a world-renowned photo-journalist, or Kanye West.

When you go on a ramble, you never know where you are going to end up. All you can do is strap-in and enjoy the ride!

The Silent Killer with Alexandra Mack

The Silent Killer with Alexandra Mack

In the Season 1 finale, Alexandra Mack (aka Moses) joins Jeff to discuss life, love, and listening to Ramble by the River. They swap stories from growing up on the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum, Alex provides some interesting facts about the history of kidney health in the United States, they both give recipes to some delicious Mexican dishes, and they spend a significant amount of time discussing what they love and what drives them crazy in relationships. Along the way we venture into celebrity crushes, gardening, Oktoberfest, jealousy, weird foods, mental health, and old regrets (specifically, NOT eating a scorpion when offered).
Alex is a clinically-certified hemodialysis technician, an expert bar-tender/mixologist, and an avid listener of this podcast. Since day one, she has been a steady focus-group of one, providing valuable insights and critiques that have helped the show to take shape. I am very grateful to her for her input on a weekly basis and it was great to finally get her opinions on the record. The general tone of this episode is happy, reflective, and fun and I hope that spreads to you listeners as you hear it.
If you have been with us since the beginning, you cannot miss this season wrap-up, and if you are just getting started with Ramble, I hope you will be back next season. It has been a true pleasure to make these 56 episodes for you this year and I can't wait to get started on Season 2!
Don't forget to rate, review, subscribe, and most importantly share!
    I love you all!
    Talk to you soon,
    Jeff

    Reflections with Poppy (Bonus episode)

    Reflections with Poppy (Bonus episode)

In this bonus episode Jeff provides a behind-the-scenes look at the process of making the season 1 finale, talks about his budding career as social media fashionista, provides you with a promo code to get 50% on Ambassador Sunglasses, and finishes up with a retrospective presentation of the second episode of Ramble by the River, where he laid out his reasons for creating the show and hopes for the future. This episode will provide listeners, whether new or OG, with the right information to properly analyze season 1 as a whole. Did we accomplish what we set out to do? You be the judge.
It is a lot of fun to look back and hear how much things have changed over the course of these 55 episodes.
Let me know what you think.
Send me a comment, message, tweet, or carrier pigeon and tell me what you noticed most while listening to this episode. Is it the rookie-level editing? Do I sound more or less interesting? What stands out to you? If you tell me before Thursday, there is a chance your comments will be featured in the season 1 finale!
    I hope you enjoy!

    Alex Mack: Back-to-Back

    Alex Mack: Back-to-Back

Never a dull moment when you are hanging with the Macks. In this episode, I am joined by Alexander and Alexandra Mack. Alexander was a guest on episode 17 and this is Alexandra's first appearance as a guest, although she has been one of the most important members of the Ramble by the River focus group since the show's inception.
This is the first time having two guests in the studio at the same time and it went surprisingly well. The three of us weave stories from the past with topical current events and personal opinions to create a collage of entertainment for you to enjoy.
Some of the topics include: Blake Shelton, women with mustaches, delicious bear-meat sausages, what it means to have foamy urine, and how to induce orgasms while you sleep.
As always, we have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. I hope you enjoy!

No Days Off with Kelsey Barreto

No Days Off with Kelsey Barreto

Kelsey Barreto (Dream Sweet Designs) stops by the crabshed to talk about her business, her family, and her personal philosophies. Kelsey's company Dream Sweet Designs (link below) created a beautiful laser-cut sign for the Ramble by the River studio. Kelsey explains the series of events that led to the decision to start her own business and we'll hear about some of her triumphs and failures along the way.
Kelsey and Jeff trade stories from the good ole days; like when she survived a drunk-driving accident just days after the drunk-driving awareness assembly at school, or when Jeff watched a man punch a horse in the face. You'll hear a lot about parenting, what it takes to be a working parent, and you'll get some opinions on corporal punishment (spanking) as a form of discipline.
This podcast sounds like two hard-working Americans sitting down to talk about the trials and tribulations of the daily grind, and that's exactly what it is. Real people, real opinions, real life.
This was a pleasure to record and I hope you enjoy!

Some Stars Shoot, and Some Don't with Andrew Lapidus

Some Stars Shoot, and Some Don't with Andrew Lapidus

Internationally-acclaimed linguist Andrew Lapidus makes his second appearance on Ramble by the River and he does not disappoint. He gives us that trademark Lapidus wit as he explains the recent unemployment scare that almost became a deportation, along with some stories that he didn't plan to talk about, regarding the skeletons in his closet, and he mentions J.K. Rowling way, way less than last time.
On this epic two hour masterpiece Jeff and Andrew traverse a variety topics, exploring the human experience, across a range of emotion so broad, yet somehow still so deep. You'll hear Andrew's review of Apple's most popular accessories, and periodically Jeff will try to convince Andrew of the promise of NFTs and cryptocurrency. You'll hear Andrew question the morality of billionaires, and Jeff whine about the loss of once-abundant natural resources.
This was a fun episode to make and I really like the way it turned out. Andrew is a hilarious guy with a brilliantly sharp and witty mind. You are not going to want to miss this one.
Ramble by the River is for entertainment only.

No Biscuits in Bangkok with Annika Wolters

No Biscuits in Bangkok with Annika Wolters

From humble beginnings, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Annika Wolters has made her mark on the world as a journalist, academic, and world-traveler. She is currently living in Bangkok, Thailand and working as a video editor for the Associated Press. But as we know, nothing worth having comes easy, and the last few years have provided countless challenges for this ambitious young woman.
Join her and Jeff as they ramble their way through growing up on the West coast, attending Western Washington University (where Annika was President of the A.S.), traveling to Thailand, and navigating a pandemic while living abroad.
Annika is a warm, thoughtful, and funny person and this is a really enjoyable conversation. It was great to catch up with an old friend and to discover that she has been out there accomplishing her goals and conquering her demons. Annika has accumulated some impressive achievements, but she remains humble and down to earth. She is out there making waves across the planet, and I'm proud to claim her as one of ours. After all, she started out as just another beach kid with a dream.
Thank you for listening. I hope you enjoy!

Magical Moments

I’m very thankful for this podcast and Jeff’s ability and willingness to be transparent. I’m not happy that he had I have had to endure similar trauma in our backgrounds but I am happy that every topic is open for discussion on this podcast. Jeff is humble and very open minded and these characteristics are infused into his show and that’s why every episode is magical and truly life changing. :)

Raw, Real & Entertaining

I’ve been listening to podcasts for years, and I know a good one when I find it. Jeff does a great job making people comfortable so they naturally tell their story in a way that is raw and real - much needed in today’s politically correct world! Listening to the life experiences of others reminds us that we all go through hard things, and we are stronger on the other side of the hardship. And did I mention the humor in this podcast? What is life without corrupt humor!! You’re going to love this podcast. Thank you Jeff!!
