148. The Day The World Shattered - Samantha Melaney Highest Self Embodied

    • Self-Improvement

“Life gets expensive in emergencies” > > > > This is a tear jerker you guys. The stress adds up when your child has an emergency.  You have to be there for them in those times.  Samantha reflects on her story with her daughter’s debilitating illness.  From running 7 half marathons to sitting in the hospital praying for her baby, while trying to support her other child at the same time, she reflects on her mindset shifts through the process.  How to accept help in these vulnerable times.  How to SURVIVE and cope when your baby is so incredibly sick.  She speaks to the grace she had to give herself during this time.. allowing herself to rest, and to give herself the grace of letting the dishes wait or letting the laundry wait…
Episode Quote: "We could wake up in the morning and my daughter could be fine but then within a couple hours we could be heading to the hospital, and we don’t know how long we’re going to be there"
Self Care Tip:  "Take care of yourself and take care of yourself in every way - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.  As you do that …you help everyone around you.  You can’t help other people when you are sick.   You taking care of yourself is really taking care of those around you as well. "

I ask her very candidly about what people can do to help those in these situations.  And she does explain some literal tangible suggestions
She has created a community for mamas who are going through things and could use a little support.  Samantha chats about how much she learned during this chronic illness and how she wants to be able to pour into others now who may be at the beginning of a similar circumstance.  Connecting with someone who really gets you can make a big difference.  Samanthamelaney.com is where find livereal mamas.   IG  is @samanthamelaney
Minute 19:20 about stress and how we are ALLOWED to take a rest
