    130. My Award-Winning Book Ruined My Life!

Is the title of this episode a bit dramatic? Mayhap, but I assure you, there were far too many moments when it felt 100% accurate - my award-winning book was ruining my life! Tune in as, per usual, I give you the unfiltered story of how writing my book, Permission to Offend: The Compassionate Guide for Living Unfiltered and Unafraid, paradoxically muzzled my message. Listen in as I explore the dissonance created by trying to live up to the standard of being the "empathetic offender" 24/7, the impossibility of perfection, and how this unrealistic expectation held me back from showing up fully self-expressed. I also set the record straight for how I'm choosing to move forward, plus a little bonus step for you and a whole lot more. Dive in, start listening and make sure you - Apply What You Heard: Audit Your Perfectionism: Reflect on one area of your life where you might be holding yourself to an impossible standard. Ask yourself: Is this how I want to continue operating in 2025?Use the All-Outcomes Matrix: As described in Chapter 7 of Permission to Offend, use this tool to clarify possible outcomes and guide your decision-making.Practice Letting Go: Identify a situation where you’ve been afraid of being misunderstood. Take a deep breath, and remind yourself: “It’s okay to let them misunderstand me.” Enjoyed this episode? Hook a sister up by leaving a review wherever you're listening. Want to read the book? 129. Finding Joy, Discipline, and Dreaming Again

If you've ever been called (or felt) "lazy," and undisciplined, this episode is for YOU! Hey there, it's me, Rachel Luna. I'm recording this episode way past my bedtime, but I needed to get this out to you. In fact, I owe you an apology. This is the third (or maybe fourth?) episode I’ve recorded in the last month that I haven’t published yet. By the time you hear this, you might find a whole flood of episodes hitting your feed. But I couldn’t hold off on recording this one because it’s something that’s been weighing on my heart, and I know it might be exactly what you need to hear. In this episode, I’m diving into some reflections on consistency, discipline, and the role joy plays in sustaining them. My dear friends Patrice Washington and Candace L. Davis have inspired me so much in this area lately. Patrice is running a consistency challenge in her community, where she’s showing up live every single day. Watching her commitment got me thinking about trying a 365-day challenge myself. But if I’m being honest, I know I’m not ready for that kind of long-term commitment—yet. Then there’s Candace, my writing coach and book editor. She’s been my accountability partner for what we’ve been calling a “CEO, millionaire mindset.” In one of our conversations, I had a big realization: “Lazy Rachel” and “CEO Rachel” are not congruent. While I’m not truly lazy, I’ve often been undisciplined. When I dug deeper, I realized the root cause (which I reveal to you in this episode, so start listening now). Because the truth is, for the past five years, ever since my cancer diagnosis, I’ve been stuck in “survival mode.” My only dream was to live, and I let that focus override everything else. But here’s the thing: the human brain is wired to seek pleasure. Without joy and fulfillment, discipline becomes so much harder. And while “survival mode” kept me alive, it also stopped me from dreaming, playing, and pursuing bigger goals. Wanna know the shift I'm making to make the process, the habits and discipline follow naturally? Then listen to this episode now. As we approach a new year, I want to encourage you to join me in this journey. Apply What You Heard: Go to B.A.T. for yourself! (Belief Audit Time is a powerful exercise which we talk about in this episode and I also give examples of in my award-winning book, Permission to Offend: The Compassionate Guide for Living Unfiltered & Unafraid.Identify one habit or discipline you want to focus on in 2025 and brainstorm ways to make it more enjoyable (I explain WHY this part is critical in the episode)Start dreaming again! Are you stuck in survival mode? Tune in to this episode to hear my personal story and the steps I’m taking to dream bigger and live with more excitement and purpose. Please leave a review and share with a friend! Your review makes a huge impact and if this episode was valuable at all, I'd be so grateful if you took 45 seconds to leave an honest review. Thanks in advance!
