Growth Mindset Is Not About Participation Trophies (Rerelease)

Growth Mindset Is Not About Participation Trophies (Rerelease)

Growth mindset is one of those educational buzzwords. But do you really know what it means? Today Meagan, Lauren, and Lindsey talk about using growth mindset in teaching and how those things can help your students (and you), both inside and outside the classroom. Listen at the end for three tips you can use to help implement more of a growth mindset lifestyle.

Use this quiz from Big Life Journal or this one developed by researcher Carol Dweck to understand your own growth mindset. Interested in a way to share growth mindset with your students? Check out  the growth mindset episode of Cafeteria Confidence, Meagan and Lauren's other podcast for teens, tween and the people who love them (and while you're there, check out all their other episodes, too).

No Disappointments here!

I love this podcast. I admire that these 3 teachers are advocating for all those awesome teachers out there. They have walked in their shoes and truly understand their ups and downs as well as their celebrations. It's disappointing that a listener thinks he/she can judge the passion and dedication of these 3 teachers and go so far to say he/she would never allow their own children to sit in their classrooms. WOW! You don't know these teachers to make that judgment. Are you a teacher? If you have never been a teacher then you can only listen to their experiences. It's their experience and not yours to judge. I was lucky to have worked with Meagan as her aide for 5 years and I wish my daughter had the opportunity to be a student in her classroom. She is passonate, empathic, and patient. She goes above and beyond to make sure each of her students has the best experience in her classroom. Then COVID hit and all the fun and creativity of teaching was taken away. The virtual world was new territory that was not taught in college. Teachers had just a couple of days to figure it out. Meagan not only considered the needs of the students but also the needs of the parents. Meagan knew her first graders would need the assistance of their parents while they were home. She also knew the parents would have to juggle working full time at home while making sure their child(ren) was online and had all the correct materials and supplies for that lesson. Meagan thoroughly thought it through and was able to make it work for everyone. Her attention to detail and organizational skills were nothing but perfection during the virtual lessons and the parents were beyone grateful for all her help. Meagan is an AMAZING teacher! I think highly of her and I applaud her if she thinks highly of herself - she's earned it. It's so sad that you - the disappointed listener - would never allow your children to sit in any these teachers classrooms based on your uneducated judgment. However, perhaps that's a good thing for these fabulous teachers!

Mocking voices

These teachers are self righteous and ignorant and intolerant of others. YOU’VE done a lot of bad things. Sanctimonious.

SO good!

Wow, I love this podcast! The hosts are so insightful and fun. It's refreshing to hear a real perspective on teaching. I look forward to new episodes!!
