Mother Teresa, Dr. Seuss, Gandhi. Is it possible these enlightened historical figures were total scumbags? That's what we try to decide in Scumbags of History, where we pick through the dirty underwear pile of lesser-known facts about some of the famous people society has put on a pedestal. Hosted by confirmed scumbags, comedians Brittany Schmitt and Mateen Stewart, Scumbags Of History is a thoroughly disreputable history lesson on the people you thought you knew from history. Episodes on Frank Sinatra, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, James Brown, Charlie Chaplin, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Picasso, and more figures from history, released weekly.

James Brown's legal issues included being charged with domestic violence. He sang, "When I hold you, in my arms, I know that I can do no wrong." Many of the women in his life might disagree.

Good Idea

This is such a great idea and the hosts are funny and relatable. However the lack of research really ruined the show for me. It would be one thing if one host researched the person before hand and the other asked questions throughout. I couldn’t even make it through the Martha Stewart episode after they didn’t know when “the war ended” and whether she’d been married before. I’m not a huge history buff and I’m a “young” millennial so I was still a kid when Martha was in her prime but I follow her on social media and I’m even aware she’s been married and has a daughter.

I’m going to give another episode a try but from my first listen it just feels so disconnected and the hosts are ill prepared.

Could be cool

Was searching for a new Podcsst to binge and I came across this one. The concept is so awesome and was looking forward to listening! In the intro they say…”we’re comedians, not historians” which is cool, but just ends up being disappointing. I couldn’t even get through the whole episode of the very first one I tried. The Female host ruins the listening experience by talking over the Guy and putting her two not-so-funny cents in. He can’t even finish a thought! Had to stop listening, cause i couldn’t take hearing her another second. Bummer!
