Nya Leaves AJLT & Girls 2.1 It's About Time AKA Dumping Adam for Donald Glover

Nya Leaves AJLT & Girls 2.1 It's About Time AKA Dumping Adam for Donald Glover

We begin with some updates from Sex and the City / And Just Like That world: Karen Pittman aka Nya Wallace has joined Che in leaving the show before season 3, leaving us only a Seema & TLDR departure from forming a little show called "Sex and The City." We also talk about the media's weird obsession with Gen Z seeing SATC for the first time on Netflix before getting into: Girls season 2 Premiere!
In this episode, Hannah begins by boning Donald Glover, and ends with a rough conversation with broken-legged sad Adam. Marnie goes from saging her house to rid it of Ray, to a Ray makeout sesh at a party. Marnie gets downsized finds herself in a low spot, a sex-with-a-gay-guy spot, and then a very familiar spot. Jessa shows up to be an a-hole for like two minutes, and boom, we're off and running with season 2.

Girls 1.9 Leave Me Alone AKA Everyone's Wrong

Girls 1.9 Leave Me Alone AKA Everyone's Wrong

This is SO S.A.T.C., says our Shosh, as the gals go to a book release party for an annoying college friend played by Jenny Slate. Hannah’s writing rival is having success which drives her crazy enough so that she takes almost the literal first step towards being a writer, and goes to a reading held by her favorite college teacher (played by Michael Imperioli — the guest stars on this show, A+). Jessa gets herself read by Katherine, who tries unsuccessfully to re-hire her in spite of her pathetic husband, and Shosh signs up for online dating in a scene that had us wanting to see more — literally, anything more! In the end, we have a big selfish-off between Marnie and Hannah, where somehow, everyone manages to be more wrong than right.
Thanks to our Patreon pals for keeping us going on Girls, and we’re continuing to drop every other episode on the main feed! To get ALL the Girls and over 100 other exclusive podcast episodes, join us over at patreon.com/KevinAndJon.

Girls 1.7 Welcome To Bushwick AKA The Crackcident AKA Pants or No Pants

Girls 1.7 Welcome To Bushwick AKA The Crackcident AKA Pants or No Pants

The massive controversy from this episode: was Shosh wearing pants as she ran around Bushwick…on crack?! The girls all head to the biggest warehouse party in Brooklyn, and this party? Has everything: a pack of lesbians, Charlie and Ray’s suddenly successful band, the world’s saddest husband trying to cheat on his wife with Jessa, a glass cigarette filled with crack for Shosh, Elijah kissing a boy, and Marnie’s best selfish meltdown yet after her ex suddenly gets smooched by a tiny Navajo. Also, Hannah is shaken to learn a huge thing about Adam’s life from a lesbian who tries to bite a bottlecap off a beer.
Oh and did you know this episode is brought to you by a newly Writers Guild Award nominated co-host?! We talk some fun personal news at the top before getting into that sweet, sweet crackcident.

Pretty Woman (1990) AKA Big Mistake. Huge.

Pretty Woman (1990) AKA Big Mistake. Huge.

Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers! We decided to do a classic romcom that *one* of us had never seen, and drop it as a romantic, holiday bonus. So here we are, with a movie that doesn’t work on paper, but big time works on the screen: a star-making turn by Julia Roberts who has “it” more than just about anyone has ever had, Richard Gere somehow making us like a 41 year old billionaire, Hector Elizondo being an all-time hotel daddy, Jason Alexander portraying the most punchable man of all time, Laura San Giacomo as a really fun bestie and PATRICK RICHWOOD as a scene stealing elevator man. Oh, and Garry Marshall with one of the most impossible directing assignments of all time, done perfectly.
Folks? After 5 years, this is our longest single podcast episode of all time. We hope you enjoy it, and we love you for everything you’ve done for us. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Girls 1.5 Hard Being Easy AKA Doin’ It Pigeonstyle

Girls 1.5 Hard Being Easy AKA Doin’ It Pigeonstyle

In the aftermath of Hannah’s diary revelation, Marnie & Charlie break up…or at least Charlie attempts to. That leads to Marnie going to the apartment of her boyfriend for the very first time, somehow, and doing some bargaining. Hannah takes typically awful advice from Jessa to try to F her boss “for the story,” and fails, before dropping by Adam’s only to watch him go hogwild, solo. Jessa takes an ex back to her place for a romp to make a point, and Shosh accidentally catches her and some Brooklyn goofball goin’ at it pigeonstyle by the fire escape.
ALSO: Jon authored a crossword puzzle for the LA Times, go check it out Thursday 2/8, online or pick up a copy!

Girls 1.3 All Adventurous Women Do AKA Nice To See You, Your Dad’s Gay

Girls 1.3 All Adventurous Women Do AKA Nice To See You, Your Dad’s Gay

After Hannah finds out she has HPV, she calls her ex-boyfriend Elijah (Andrew Rannells) who makes a tremendous debut, revealing secrets and throwing out dad-related accusations. Marnie flirts with the ridiculously named Booth Jonathan (Jorma Taccone), Shosh gets into a (great) show called “Baggage” and talks about her own emotional baggage with Hannah, and Jessa falls asleep on the job babysitting and wakes up in time to smoke weed with a dad.

Easily the best SATC podcast I’ve listened to, and I’ve listened to a lot. The bonus episodes on the Patreon are worth it too. Also interesting discovering this podcast post-lockdown and listening to you guys experience it in real time. Glad u stayed safe!

MadKnits ,

You missed so many Dune opportunities. Aka Dune-portunities.

So I’m on my 3rd re-listen of the pod. I’ve been listening to the Girls episodes and have no idea what’s going on because I haven’t watched the show and only get to listen to every other episode b/c, like Jon, my husband has super sperm, so I have three kids under 4, and am therefore poor and don’t subscribe to the patreon. But I don’t care that I’m clueless. Who cares. Kevin and Jon are awesome and I’ll listen to them get drunk and talk all day long. Is Kylo Ren in Girls? What are Jon’s thoughts on the new Dune?! These are the only things I care about. The spice must flow!

It’s okay

These guys have some good banter and chemistry with each other. But they come off very judgmental and narrow minded and make fun of people a lot and laugh it off. The show itself is a little offensive and some of the reviews are entirely too long. A recap shouldn’t be longer than the actual movie or tv show.
