    Food for the Grieving

    Food for the Grieving

The world is heavy and hard right now. I am grieving for the children and families of Uvalde Texas as well as every single person impacted by gun violence. For some it is a constant fear and trauma. It's so hard to know how to move forward, and how to offer support to those who are grieving.
In this episode I talk about why we take food to those who are grieving, and the very natural and loving gesture that it is. Food is a constant necessity in our lives. What a beautiful thing that it can be used to show love and support when there are just no answers.

    Dear Eggplant, You're Gross

    Dear Eggplant, You're Gross

In this episode I address the "I wish" statements that I often hear from my clients related to food likes and dislikes. Things like, I wish I loved vegetables more, I wish I didn't have a sweet tooth, I wish I wasn't a picky eater, I wish I didn't love food so much"! It almost looks like a "grass is always greener" scenario doesn't it? Join me as I ponder why these are wishes, and ways to think about them in the grand scheme of our lives.

Stories: How Comments on Weight Loss Can Land

Stories: How Comments on Weight Loss Can Land

Listen in to hear some accounts that folks have shared about their experiences with losing weight and the unsolicited comments they receive. Our culture values a smaller body to such an extent that sometimes serious diseases and hardships are overlooked in the praising of weight loss. These comments reinforce the lies that being thinner is always better further perpetuating weight stigma, discrimination, health disparities, and a toxic diet culture.
The stories I read in this episode were taken from the book More Than A Body by Lindsay Kite PhD and Lexie Kite PhD. You can find a copy here: https://tinyurl.com/ynd8u5e5

Exactly What We Need

Diet culture is EVERYWHERE, and it is so difficult sometimes to know what is real versus not real. Julie and her guests do such an amazing job discussing these relevant and poignant topics, and you leave each episode feeling encouraged and refreshed. Here’s to dismantling the messed-up standards of society!

A fresh approach to taking about nutrition.

I love how Julie is focused on reminding listeners of our self-worth and how to gently care for and appreciate our bodies and all they do for us. She’s sincere and knowledgeable, and also kind and forgiving which is the best combo for talking about food and health!

Paradigm shifting podcast

I really thought I knew what I needed to know about body image, dieting, and my relationship
with food. And then I listened to this podcast. Every episode blew my mind and really moved the needle on the way I think about...pretty much everything. Liberating, enlightening, inspiring, and informative. I’m so thankful for Julie and each guest who eloquently and bravely shared her own story.
