No critical reporting whatsoever when presented with something that seems just a bit too good to be true.

Kept waiting for there to be any science to the “science of reading”. There wasn’t. Swapping one one-size-fits-all approach for another feels like an exercise in corporate propaganda more than journalism. Question their motives and ask yourself why nobody mentions trends in student to teacher ratios as a cause or solution to reading achievement. Engaging presentation but shallow analysis left me disappointed.

I was homeschooled, so the cueing ideas presented here were absolutely wild to me. It seems obvious that guessing words isn’t actually reading, but I suppose not. Very interesting and important information for parents, educators, students, legislators, and anyone who partakes in the written word.
