An Acquired Taste

As a solo individual, I find Dr. Peter McGraw to be somewhat polarizing, a sentiment he acknowledges himself. He's known for his distinctive style, including wearing Stetson hats and hosting "salons," residing in a bubble of tenured academic bourgeois. While his elitist tendencies can be off-putting—he often refers to his listeners and solo members as "everyday normal people," contrasting them with himself and his guests—he remains a pioneer in the solo movement. Despite occasional airs of superiority, he provides intellectual stimulation, maintains political neutrality, and thoroughly explores solo living. Though his guests often mirror his academic background, they contribute to insightful discussions. While I would dread attending one of his "Solo Salons," he emphasizes that it's okay to never feel obligated to do things you don’t want to do and not to feel ashamed for lacking interest, promoting the idea that solo living is about living life on your own terms. His podcast offers compelling insights into living a fulfilling solo life. Overall, despite occasional pretension, Dr. McGraw's podcast is thought-provoking and enriching. 5 stars and a respect for being unapologetically one’s self!
