T'Shango Mbilishaka is an award winning teacher who has taught in inner city communities in Boston and Washington D.C. for 15 years. He has been an administrator and taught grades pre-K to college. He never liked school so he decided to do everything to make school more interesting and exciting for students including creating hands-on-interactive lessons, going on field trips regularly, having guest presenters, teaching students their history and having classes relevant to the real world. T'Shango has developed community programs, parenting programs, Women's Self-Defense Programs, Men's support groups and Rites of Passage programs that all include learning self-defense. He began martial arts at the age of 12 but really excelled in Wrestling in High School. He enjoys studying the history of ancient African Warriors, War Empires in Africa, traditional African fighting styles and the great Martial Artists of the 60's and 70's and 80's such as Ron Van Clief, Tayari Casel, Vic Moore, Ahati Kilindi Iyi, Jim Kelly, Doc Moses Powell and many more. T'Shango studies Senuces Ryu Jujitsu under Professor Lusk Penn and trains in Brazilian Jujitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, and Kali. T'Shango was featured in Essence Magazine for bringing his students to Senegal, West Africa where they were able to meet and train with wrestlers on the beach who practice Laam.
