    Episode #439 -- My Dark Disquiet

    Marvel's Star Wars: Jedi Knights debuts and it's a case where the hype wasn't wrong. The series captures the Jedi Order before the events of the prequel trilogy, sporting a case of familiar faces, some new ones and a fair amount of intrigue. It's a superb debut and is going to be a fun read month in and month out. Dark Horse's long delayed first Hyperspace Stories: Qui-Gon original graphic novel has arrived and the creative team has weaved a truly unique story that melds flashbacks, callbacks to The High Republic, certain myths and fables as well as space-borne suspense in a story that builds upon the Qui-Gon Jinn lore and features Obi-Wan Kenobi and Count Dooku, too. And after the comics discussion, stay on for a new segment that we're trying out. We think you'll like it.     It's been five years or so, but Marvel's adaptation of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker finally sees the light of day in an adaptation that, if the first issue is any indication, features extended and deleted scenes from the film.  Scuppered by the pandemic and thought lost, we're not sure why it's finally being released, but we're wholly supportive of the move and managed to glean some intriguing tidbits.     Marvel's The High Republic phase III returns with the first issue of Fear of the Jedi and it's a doozy. An expansive story that sets the stage for some intriguing developments through its five-issue run and, much to our joy, editor's notes throughout that refer not to just previous Marvel Comics, but those Dark Horse and even the books! The Ahsoka adaptation concludes with the eighth and final issue of the mini-series in a lavishly illustrated story that sees Ezra return home and Ahsoka and Sabine prepare for a new leg of their respective journeys.     It's a Dark Horse kind of day as we break down the debut of the five-issue Hyperspace Stories -- The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents series, which hurls itself into immediate Clone Wars-era action and intrigue, with sparkling dialogue and fluid and flowing visuals. In The High Republic Adventures Phase III #15, Farzala fights for light and life, yet can't shake the feeling that the conflict with the Nihil on Eriadu could end quite badly for he and his comrades.     The first of Marvel's 2025 ongoing series debuts with Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1, a book detailing how Kylo Ren (aka Ben Solo) grapples with being the First Order's supreme leader while still grappling with the self-loathing and resentment toward just about anyone and everyone. The series is set after the events of The Last Jedi and promises a layered examination of the complex character. Demand appears solid, given Marvel's announced a second printing for the issue, due out March 19.
