Episode 142: Achieving Your Goals for 2024

Episode 142: Achieving Your Goals for 2024

The first of the year always propels us to set new (and sometimes old) goals. The problem with "resolutions" is that we can easily lose track if we do not find a way to create the momentum that will create the habits that help you achieve your goals. In this podcast, I breakdown my three P's of what it takes to create and build the momentum each of us needs to see our goals achieved. Setting goals is easy, but achieving them is not. Goals are meant to be hard and are meant to push us out of our comfort zone. Knowing your purpose is the first key and then making sure you are planning for the time (and discipline) you will need to achieve success. The third is creating a process that leads to continual progress toward your goal.

Sit back and listen, grab a notebook and jot some notes. Read some of the authors mentioned. Most importantly, put these 3 P's into action and let me know how they work for you!

Episode 141: Being a Doer vs. a Feeler

Dean is back on air with a podcast near and dear to his heart - how to be a doer and not a feeler. Too often, we wait for a "feeling" or a "motivation" to take action. Dean says each of us battles this in some aspect of our lives, but to be significant in any thing of importance, you have to learn to become a doer! Dean outlines the 6 things it takes to become a "Doer" and leave your "waiting-on-a-feeling" ways behind!

Episode 140: Leadership: The Chick-fil-A Way - Embracing the New Generation of Leaders

Episode 140: Leadership: The Chick-fil-A Way - Embracing the New Generation of Leaders

In a world where the hustle and bustle of daily life often takes precedence, it's a rare gem to come across a company that not only values its employees but also takes the time to pass along invaluable wisdom. Recently, I had the privilege of striking up a conversation with a young Chic Fil A employee while waiting in line at their counter. What I discovered in that brief encounter left a lasting impression and prompted me to ponder why more companies don't follow suit.
The question I posed to her was simple: "What advice would you give to a new employee just starting at Chic Fil A?" Her response was nothing short of impressive and illuminated the essence of the company's philosophy. She spoke of core values that Chic Fil A holds dear, values that are not

Episode 139: Broken Crayons Still Color

Episode 139: Broken Crayons Still Color

In this episode, I use a quote from a student in our Master Leadership class to offer 7 tips on how to become more resilient as a leader. Everyone of us goes through personal and professional crises. It's the nature of human existence. Those of us who choose to be significant, tackle adversity head on and find ways to build your personal resilience.  Dean talks about some of his own challenges during his 30+ year career and how he overcame the feeling of "brokenness." We are not born with resilience, but we can, with a little effort and commitment, create the conditions that grow our resilience. When you find your own personal recipe to do this, you will come out stronger and more flexible than you were before the crisis. That's what creates significant people and leaders. Leadership on a whole new level!!!

After attending the Intentional Leadership and the Master Leader and Presenter classes (I HIGHLY recommend both! They will change your life and how you view leadership!), I have listened to this podcast on a more frequent basis than before. It’s like I’m in class all over again but without getting to speak. These podcasts definitely keep me refreshed and going while continuing to build my leadership skills to fulfill my purpose. Thanks Dean for sharing all your wisdom on leadership that can be used not only in our professional lives but our personal lives as well.

Outstanding podcast on Leadership

I just met Kelly today in Randolph Massachusetts. Dean was teaching a class that I heard from cops was an outstanding class. Although I have followed Dean and his work including his book, I had not heard of the podcast until today. Simply put I listened to a couple of episodes and it is outstanding. It science based but what I love is he brings the art of leadership and field research into it. Theory is great but this putting leadership into practice is the key. This podcast will help all leaders from the frontline to the administration in improving their style and effectiveness.

Your lessons are great and the leadership advice you give is definitely it in the BS zone.

Keep up the great success at LHLN and this podcast.
