Summer Camp Edition
Grab the hot dogs and the marshmallows, pack up the bug spray and the tick spoon, and head Up to Camp -- as the Strand On The Air presents its Summer Camp Edition, Sunday June 26 at 5pm over WRFR 93.3 and WRFR.org! Join Liz McLeod and the Strand Family Players, Brittany Parker, and Dan Bookham for an hour of laughs and tunes as we all try to escape the heat or the cold, depending on when this article sees print, duck the sunburn, and try to find a parking place. "All Things Rescinded" will explore the state of not-really-post-pandemic summer travel, consider the possibility of a super hero blockbuster summer flick that hasn't been done before, and will interview Almost The Last Living Person In America Without A Smartphone. And down in Abysmal Point, the woods are full of cuckoos, as Mrs. Grunden, Lilita, Gertie, and Edith head for the tranquil algae-blooming waters of Sluice Lake. All this and the music of returning Strand On The Air favorites Patty Jackson and Rusty Blake!
The Magic Lake (A Strand on the Air Special Event)
A Strand on the Air Special Event! Enjoy this 30-minute radio-play version of THE MAGIC LAKE, a musical retelling of a Peruvian folktale about a quest to discover a magic lake at the end of the world. The play is performed by local middle school students as part of the "Take the Stage" class, a collaboration between the Strand Theatre and RSU #13's Afterschool Program. The play will debut first on the airwaves of Rockland's own WRFR (93.3), and will be available to stream afterwards on all podcast platforms.
Spring Cleaning Special
Grab the brooms and clean up -- let's go! Spring is here and that means it's time to wash the windows, mop the floor, and pour out a whole new bucket of laughs and tunes as the STRAND ON THE AIR returns with its Spring Cleaning Special!
House Manager Liz McLeod dusts off the Strand Family Players, who find joy in tossing out a few barbs at the World's Greatest Professional Declutterer; show you what not to do when your neighbor messes up your garden; and meet an upcycler with a startling new use for cat hair. And down in Abysmal Point, Mrs. Grunden and Lilita make a startling discovery under the floorboards when redecorating the clam shack. Tidying up the music department, Brittany Parker presents a sampling of the outstanding work done by her students in the Strand Take The Stage Program -- and you'll meet as special musical guest singer-songwriter Trisha Mason, making her first broadcast appearance in the Midcoast after relocating to Rockland.
STRAND ON THE AIR, written and directed by Liz McLeod, originally broadcast on WRFR, 93.3 in Rockland.

Down in Abysmal Point, Mrs. Grunden, Lilita, and the gang will gather round the kitchen table to drive off the winter blues with a hard-fought no-quarter-asked-and-none-given game of full-contact Monopoly. Special musical guests GoldenOak. Broadcast on WRFR on February 27, 2022 at 5pm.
