It’s your fault. And that’s a good thing. In this episode, I talk about the 7 things you need to do to take responsibility for your own situation and catalyze change in your life… right now.
Failure is scary, and that’s why it’s hard to admit when you make mistakes. And because of that fear, you either find something or someone else to blame— or you don’t forgive yourself at all.
But here’s the thing: it’s your fault. And that’s okay. After all, if it’s not your fault, do you really have power and control to change your own situation?
No one else is coming to save you. No one is coming to set goals for you. Or script out the vision you have for your life.
Once that hard truth sinks in, stand in front of a mirror, take a look at yourself, and ask: “What can I do to start this change?”
This episode is part one of a two-parter on how to take responsibility for your own situation. Here, I’m going to tell you 7 things you need to do to catalyze change in your life... right now. Stay tuned!

It’s one thing to learn how to deal with constant pain and an incurable illness. It’s another to turn that pain into purpose. Five-time cancer survivor Bill Potts has managed to do exactly that despite his 20-year (and still ongoing) battle.
With his determination and lifestyle, you wouldn’t have even known that Bill Potts has battled cancer five times.
    Yes, five times.
This episode of the Success Through Failure podcast is not about cancer. It’s about how you can own your journey and turn the struggle, scars, and pain into purpose.
And after all these years, Bill is currently undergoing treatment for the sixth time, with number seven just a few years away. His accidental expertise led him to author "Up for the Fight: How to Advocate for Yourself as You Battle Cancer―from a Five-Time Survivor," a book on how to navigate through life after a diagnosis.
For many of us, decades of surgeries, treatment, recovery, isolation are just plain unbearable, and understandably so. And yet, Bill’s ability to somehow respond even better each and every day is nothing short of extraordinary.
Bill Potts is a motivational speaker, business leader, community builder, and dedicated father and husband. He has held executive positions at the IRONMAN Group and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and lectured on marketing at Tulane University, where he earned his MBA.
He is currently the co-founder and a managing director of marketing agency Remedy 365 and an IRONMAN triathlete.
In this episode, Bill walks us through his ongoing 20-year battle and how you can turn your own pain into purpose. Listen to Bill’s story now.

Listen in as I take a step back from focusing on the stories and emotions, and instead, look at the science behind turning failure into success and how you can apply it in real life.
In this episode, I take the concept of Success Through Failure from being “motivational” and “inspirational” and examine it with a more scientific approach.
Some of you (like me!) need to hear not just the emotionally appealing stories, but also the science and the truth behind achieving success despite— and because of— failure.
So if you are one of those people, then this episode is for you.
Of course, we’re not just going to look through a “boring” academic lens, but through real-world learning that applies directly to you and can change your life.
By the end of this episode, you’ll have a single, actionable takeaway that you can apply and put into work so you can turn failure into success. Hit play now!

Tremendous podcast

Success through failure is always on my playlist. I sometimes think I would be able to run my company without the direct and subtle insight and reminders the show provides. If you are grinding away towards a goal STF is a must listen. Thank me later!

Mission Critical

What a powerful reminder of the difference that we can make in the lives of other people. It does not get any better than being the hands and feet of Jesus, letting our light shine and ‘eating crackers in the rain.’ Thanks for sharing Jim!

Futility

Did Rudy work hard pursuing a dream? Sure, but probably not more than most of his teammates, especially those who were real football players. While there are aspects of his story that ring true to most Americans like hard work, never giving up on a dream, etc., the one lesson too many people miss while giving his story far too much attention is futility: for some, the juice may not be worth the squeeze. All the stars, who have come and gone from the storied Notre Dame teams throughout college football history, to have given Rudy any more attention than the three plays at the end of a game well put away with a minute and a half or so left is a waste of time. The guy was indicted by the Securities Exchange Commission. He's no hero!
