    In this season as The Seattle School has been looking back at the first 25 years, Dr. Paul Hoard and Dr. Doug Shirley have been exploring what it means to live with the legacies and histories in our community, as well as how to engage with these proverbial ghosts and shadows—what we think about systemic inheritances in our community. Together in this series titled “Ghosts and Shadows,” Dr. Hoard & Dr. Shirley examined the past and looked towards the future through three essays, posted on our website, and colleagues were invited to join in the conversation and share their reflections in a series of podcasts.   Dr. J. Derek McNeil, Provost and President, joined the podcast to share his thoughts on the "Ghosts and Shadows" essay series. Listen in as he shares his insights on our history, purpose, and identity, and the ways we connect with each other.

She taught at The Seattle School from 2008-2023 as Associate Professor of Theology and now serves as Affiliate Faculty. Together in this series titled “Ghosts and Shadows,” they’ve examined the past and looked towards the future through three essays posted on our website, and they also invited colleagues to join in the conversation and share their reflections in a series of podcasts.   For this podcast, Dr. Monique Gadson, Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology, joined Dr. Hoard and Dr. Shirley in this exploration. Together in this series titled “Ghosts and Shadows,” they’ve examined the past and looked towards the future through three essays posted on our website, and they also invited colleagues to join in the conversation and share their reflections in a series of podcasts.   To start the series, psychiatrist, speaker, and author Dr. Curt Thompson joined Dr. Hoard and Dr. Shirley for a conversation. Earlier this year, he gave a fascinating talk at The Seattle School. Listen to this conversation as Dr. Thompson, Dr. Hoard, and Dr. Shirley further explore the earlier talk at The Seattle School and also play together in these liminal spaces.

Listen as they describe the original hopes and dreams from our founding days and the continuing values of engaging in discourse, scripture, and stories along with imagination for the future.    In this fourth and final podcast of the series, Derek asks Dan and Keith to give blessings and speak into the school as we go forward into the next 25 years.

In this miniseries so far, the three leaders have discussed the hopes and dreams of the founding days and also the challenges of living into discourse in the present.   In this third podcast of the series,  Derek, Dan and Keith imagine the future as they explore the theme of our anniversary celebration: Looking toward Jubilee.

Derek McNeil, President and Provost of The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, invited Dr. Dan Allender, founding President and Professor of Counseling Psychology, and Dr. Keith Anderson, President Emeritus, into a conversation on the past, present, and future of our calling and community.In the first episode, they described the original hopes and dreams from our founding days.    In this second episode, Derek, Dan, and Keith describe the tensions, trauma, and challenges of the current social environment. How can we live into discourse as people of Christ? How can we invite each other into difficult conversations, setting a table and sustai ning a banquet through our disagreement? Next week’s podcast will include a glimpse into the future of The Seattle School with these three Presidents.
