Exactly What We Needed!
há 5 dias
I learned of this podcast and ADHDDude through Reddit and I cannot express how happy I am to have found it. These men describe ADHD behaviors and interactions as though they are personally studying my 7 year old son. At the time of his diagnosis, we were recommended play therapy and since we live in a smaller city, there were NO options available to us so we’ve been having to try and play Trial and Error with parenting. I’ve found myself making so many of the mistakes that they point out as ineffective, and have felt like a failure as a parent on countless occasions even though we are doing our best. I could have cried (happy tears) listening to this podcast. It makes so much sense and even over the past week as we’ve started implementing these strategies, I am getting less kickback and more cooperation out of my son than I ever have before. He isn’t happy about everything by any means, but his attitude towards me has already improved overall and he’s getting tasks complete that have been a battle for years. 20/10 recommend for any parent struggling to understand their ADHD child

Mike and Ryan are the voices parents of kids with ADHD need! They are willing to tackle the difficult topics and a lot of loud (but inaccurate) perspectives in the field with simple language and clear information. The podcast is a resource I share regularly in my practice, and is always received with excellent feedback.
The good, the bad, and the ugly (there’s no ugly)

We have known about my child’s ADHD diagnosis for just over a year. Every time I listen to this podcast it gives me hope. I learn something new every time and even if I feel like I have failed over and over, the podcast encourages me to not give up. Being in medicine myself, I love that it is research and evidence based. The topics are relevant and the teachings and advice are practical and helpful. There are some things about the podcast that I don’t like…..both Mike and Ryan can be very critical of those who take a different approach, and sometimes I think in a way that is slightly unprofessional. They also hammer away at social media “experts” making recommendations that are not evidence based. While I appreciate the message, it annoys me how much time they give those who take a different approach, and I sometimes feel like they speak too harshly about those who disagree with them. However, I overlook these things because I think it stems from their passion for helping ADHD individuals in ways that have been proven to be effective. Plus there is so much other good information in their podcasts that it overwhelms what annoys me. Definitely worth your time if you have a child, sibling, friend, co-worker with ADHD, or even if you just love someone who does. Great educational and parenting tool. Thanks Guys!
No more gentle parenting!

I thought I had tried it all, from gentle parenting to therapy & I still felt like nothing was working. This podcast is an incredible resource. It has been eye opening to truly see that what I thought was beneficial was really hindering my child’s progress all along. I was hindering his progress. ADHD parents need to hear that they need to parent differently & how. Parenting is a journey but I look forward to listening & applying more of your content. Thank you for the great work you are doing!
