The podcast is relevant to anyone interested in modern social and political history, contemporary politics, and what it means to be human. Working through Arendt’s oeuvre with Berkowitz has opened my mind and given me confidence to think independently. I listen to an episode every morning and think back on it regularly throughout the day. Thank you to the Hannah Arendt Center!
Roger Berkowitz is a great teacher & a great reader
The professor who does this podcast is always brilliant and both original and articulate in his encounter with Hannah Arendt. There is nothing else like it.
An invaluable resource for listeners
I discovered Dr. Berkowitz’s lectures on YouTube to supplement my personal reading of Arendt. The landscape at the time was a dozen other channels lead by people who clearly had not vaguely read the book. With Dr. Berkowitz you truly get an extremely close reading of Arendt’s works, combined with someone who has a deep knowledge of her entire corpus as well, so that if there is a murky topic in her book it is fleshed out with great clarity. Even if you’re a good reader and you don’t find Arendt too difficult, you will benefit enormously from these lectures. It truly is like taking a class on the subject.
So happy he’s uploading them to Apple Podcasts because now I can listen to them on drives or while I’m out and about. This is a treasure for those of us not in academic circles who need high-mindedness in our daily lives.
