Learn about his interviewing process and having meaningful conversations with collectors when you tune into this lovely episode. Guest: Josh is an art advocate and Connecticut native who worked in asset management at Goldman Sachs before escaping corporate America to pursue his passion with the arts. During 2020, he spent about ten months posting different pictures of artworks on Instagram taken at the galleries in Chelsea, New York and many art fairs around the country including Art Basel and Art Miami. After a visit to Gallery23 in New York and a conversation with a local artist, the seeds of his initiative, Art Basel and Beyond, were planted. In his interviews with artists, studio visits, and gallery and fair tours, Josh dives into the stories behind his dynamic guests from up-and-coming artists to seasoned professionals. Art Basel and Beyond aimed to both recreate the acclaimed art fair and enable people to build relationships with artists by understanding their mission and technique.     Contemporary Surrealism with Jordan Baraniecki

Learn about approaching grants and the contemporary surrealist movement when you tune into this lovely episode. Guest: Jordan is a 3D collage painter from Canada. He obtained his Masters from Emily Carr University in 2022 with an emphasis on the resurgence of post-pandemic Surrealism. Throughout his travels, he has nurtured a profound appreciation for introspection, philosophy, and psychology, which now serve as the undercurrents of his practice. His work invites the viewer to question their thoughts; the mind retains thousands a day and only the ones that become conscious, also become part of the subject matter.  Jordan has garnered national and international recognition. Notably, he exhibited at the Academy of Fine Art in Krakow, Poland in 2022. He has collaborated with companies such as Herschel Clothing and The Vancouver Opera. He has partnered with 0x Society Gallery in Montreal to develop NFTs. Additionally, Jordan dedicated a year to an artist residency in his hometown to explore psychological differences of chaos and solace.     Try Everything As An Artist with Brent Estabrook

    In this episode of the Artist Business Plan we sit down with Brent Estabrook to talk about expanding an arts business beyond originals. Learn about new projects and developing a catalog of artworks when you tune into this lovely episode. Guest: Brent is an American artist known for his large-scale oil paintings of stuffed animals. Born in Arizona and raised in Seattle, WA, he holds a Bachelor of Studio Arts from the University of Arizona and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DMD) from the University of Louisville. With a playful yet meticulous approach, Estabrook combines surgical precision with a childlike sense of joy, creating textured and vibrant compositions. His artistic journey began by turning frustration over student debt into paintings of enlarged currencies, leading to a career breakthrough. Through a series of colorful skulls, he developed his distinctive style, exploring brushwork and color palette. The series “Perpetual Recess” initiated in 2015, firmly established him in the art world. Since then, Estabrook has exhibited in notable art fairs across the United States and was recently featured in the Long Beach Museum of Art’s exhibition “Creature Comforts” in 2022. Currently based in Los Angeles, California, Estabrook continues to captivate audiences with his evocative artwork.     Politics and Art with Alexandra Jamieson

    In this episode of the Artist Business Plan we sit down with Alexandra Jamieson to talk about her newest, controversial project - The Abortion Trading Cards. Learn about the creation of the cards and what she hopes to do with them when you tune into this lovely episode. Guest: Alexandra Jamieson audaciously spends much of her waking life making art despite not having any art school debt. A third-generation self-taught artist from Portland, OR, she gets her hands, floors, and apron dirty at least five days a week in Brooklyn, NYC.  Her latest art includes the Abortion Trading Card series, and has previously been featured in the Mona Niko Gallery, The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition Gallery, the Kunstraum Gallery, The Clio Art Fair, Las Laguna Art Gallery. Her first solo show, Our Stories: Patterns + What We Inherit, opened in NYC in September 2022.  Alexandra was awarded a City Artist Corp grant in 2021, and curates group exhibitions featuring women, trans, and non-binary artists under the name We Create | NYC, a fiscal sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts.  She creates commissions for private clients around the world and has been featured as a writer and coach in Oprah Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, Good Morning America, CNN, USA Today, and more.
