Shoot us a Text.

Today we’re welcoming Kyle back from a well deserved family vacation as we talk about GM’s labor moves in the name of ‘simplicity’. We also cover the very first electric Lambo, as well as the massive brand power behind one man.

  • GM is working toward keeping things simple as it unveils plans to reshape its engineering workforce. This initiative, part of a broader strategy, seeks to align the automaker's resources with its evolving vision for the future.
    • General Motors (GM) intends to cut around 200 engineering positions while affected employees will have the chance to transition to other roles within the company.
    • GM's "Winning with Simplicity" strategy, introduced by CEO Mary Barra, aims to decrease design and engineering expenses and simplify vehicle manufacturing processes.
    • The company's goal is to achieve $2 billion in cost reductions by the end of 2024, with an additional $1 billion in fixed cost cuts identified.
    • Approximately 5,000 salaried workers opted for a voluntary buyout this year, leading to savings of about $1 billion and avoiding layoffs.

  • Late last week, Lamborghini unveiled their first EV concept, the Lanzador which is a fusion  of supercar aesthetics and SUV functionality. As the brand's first foray into the electric realm, the Lanzador promises staggering power, eco-conscious interiors, and a commitment to a sustainable future.
    • The company is calling the Lanzador, a 2+2 concept, combining elements of a supercar and SUV, boasting a staggering power output of 1,341 horsepower and dual motors powered by a high-performance battery is capable of putting out a megawatt of power.
    • The vehicle's design draws inspiration from the Revuelto super sports car and the Urus, featuring unique proportions, Gandini arches, and a Y-shaped bodyside accent.
    • The interior offers a "pilot" concept with a Y-shaped dashboard, digital instrument cluster, and extensive use of eco-friendly materials, including Merino wool upholstery and sustainably tanned leather.
    • The Lanzador is slated to be released in 2028 amid the company’s state goal of fully electrifying every vehicle in its lineup in some way by 2024
  • In what might be a “too soon” moment for Kyle, Soccer Phenom Lionel Messi has transformed Major League Soccer's landscape scoring his tenth goal in seven games as he kicked the winning goal against Nashville SC on Saturday night to win the Leagues Cup Tournament.
    •  Messi's influence has doubled Apple TV+ subscriptions, made his jersey a top-seller, and surged ticket prices by over 1,700%.
    • Additionally, Inter Miami's Instagram followers now surpass NFL, NHL, and MLB teams
