S02E31: What To Do With Our Anxious Hearts

S02E31: What To Do With Our Anxious Hearts

In our final episode of Season 2, Grayson and Jack discuss the common struggle of anxiety and worry. They explore the root causes of anxiety, which stem from the fallen nature of humanity and the sinful desire for self-preservation. They emphasize the importance of trusting in God's providence and seeking His kingdom first. The hosts also highlight the distinction between concern and fretting, noting that while it is natural to be concerned about certain aspects of life, it is sinful to allow anxiety to consume us. They explore various biblical examples of anxiety and how individuals in the Bible dealt with their fears. They emphasize the importance of trusting in God's providence and seeking Him in times of anxiety. The conversation concludes with practical steps to combat anxiety, including repentance, casting our fears on the Lord, and preaching God's promises to ourselves.

Distinct But Inseparable: Reflections on the Unity of Believers

In this short, bonus episode, Jack explores Jesus' prayer for the unity of believers in John 17:20-23. Jesus prayed for the church to be unified like the Father and Son in the Trinity, distinct but inseparable. Genuine Christian unity is only achieved through the Word of God, which washes, renews, and unifies believers.

Excellent, Thought-provoking, Humorous

I’ve started listening to more podcasts, specifically Christian ones, the last year or two. Every time I began one I stopped within a couple months because most episodes seemed to just be repeating the same lines under different topics or reiterating how the Christian life is a struggle for all of us. However, this one has stuck and I’m going back and listening to all the old episodes. My eyes are turned towards Christ, God’s Word, and eternity with every episode and I am genuinely helped in my walk with the Lord as I consider various aspects of life through the lense of Scripture. On top of that, the listening is never dry! These guys have great humor and camaraderie, and I enjoy their different perspectives from Baptist and Presbyterian backgrounds (and would definitely love if they had more episodes presenting their different views as when Jack explained the covenantal view/paedobaptism in brief). So thankful for the effort they put into preparing and recording these discussions!
