The bedtime prayers of the church

I live in Connecticut and have listened to Compline almost every Sunday evening (one week delay) for the past year and a half. Although I attend Sunday morning services in my home church, I like being part of an online congregation.
At first I tried several other online Compline podcasts but kept coming back to this one. The voices, the music selections, and the arrangements are superb. I thought why don’t they have female choristers but now I’m used to the all-male choir. The roaring lion imagery and the Holy Ghost are a bit anachronistic for me.
Listening was a trial when the windows were being replaced but now the room acoustics and audio engineers have created a sense of space that I can inhabit with those actually there.
Good night from a devoted listener.

Beautiful!

This is a fantastic way to worship the Lord by yourself or with your family. Even my small children are captivated by the beauty of Compline.

Late nights driving home, I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to do catechetical work with the children before bed.

I put this podcast on in the car and they hear the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostles’ Creed, a Psalm or two, and multiple verses of scripture sung by an angelic choir.

For Christians from a liturgical background, or for those interested in meditating on and teaching their children the time tested foundations of the Christian faith, this is an excellent podcast!

The very best!

Compline is dear to my heart, and this podcast is one I listen to on earbuds at night before I go to sleep. It is seriously gorgeous in spirit and in presentation. I have one favorite service that I saved and listen to repeatedly during vexing moments of life, one from May 2014 where the lead hymn is “The King of Love My Shepherd Is…” Melts me to the core with peace and makes “letting go” of the day’s worries possible. It doesn’t get any better than this for a pathway to a sacred drifting off to rest in God’s Love! I am so grateful for The Compline Choir and hope to someday visit St. Mark’s Cathedral.

For the record, I’ve also tried other “daily office” type podcasts including a couple presented by the Roman Catholic church, and their presentations always seem so perfunctory and obligatory, just reading the words. The Compline Choir, however, instills devotion and conveys great love for what they are doing in their services, and their outreach is one I deeply appreciate. What a gift they provide in offering a way to quiet restless minds and provide a send-off tino prayerful slumber! After listening at night, instead of going to sleep with a mind that’s full of concerns, I drift off prayerfully.
