108: Defining Sanctuary for Faith Communities

108: Defining Sanctuary for Faith Communities

Imagine stepping into a sanctuary that's as safe and nurturing as it is spiritually enriching – this is the future we're fashioning today on the Crabby Pastor podcast. I'm Margie Bryce, and alongside former private investigator Lori Morrison, we're ripping off the veil on the urgent need for secure church environments. Through Lori's unique lens, we grasp the tangible steps we can take to transform our worship spaces into bastions of safety that guard not only our physical well-being but also our emotional and spiritual lives. Together, we address the erosion of trust in religious institutions and prescribe actionable strategies to help churches rise as sanctuaries for seekers and believers alike.

Our conversation covers a lot of ground including the rise of sex trafficking preying on our youth.  We also shed light on the disturbing fact that sex offenders often target religious communities due to their forgiving nature, as highlighted by psychologist Dr. Anna Salter's research. Our discussion is an essential guide to redefining love and freedom in a manner that shields our fledgling population.

105: A nail-biter realization about how we work

105: A nail-biter realization about how we work

Here's a unique metaphor for HOW we work in our vocations.

Join me, Margie Bryce, on a journey to harmonize the scattered shards of our personal and professional lives, just like crafting a stained glass masterpiece.

The silent predator of burnout lurks in the shadows of our demanding roles, which is why this episode features a vital burnout questionnaire to help you self-assess and remain vigilant. Reflecting on my own decision to step back from pastoral ministry, I opened up about the path that led me to become a coach for others walking a similar journey.

We'll discuss the importance of self-awareness and the implementation of healthy self-care practices, aimed at preserving the passion that fuels our service without being consumed by it. If you're a ministry leader seeking to keep your inner flame alive, this conversation is a beacon in the night, guiding you toward sustainable care for yourself as you care for others.

Let’s Unpack That w Alex&Grace ,

Topics that NEED to be talked about!

I so appreciate this podcast and how it covers the “unspoken struggles” of those in ministry. So often we feel like we need to have everything together (or appear like we do), but in reality there are so many challenges and nuances specific to ministry leadership. In addition, I LOVE hearing the perspectives from other women, as much of the “ministry leadership” dialogue is still predominantly male-dominated. These conversations are so refreshing, helpful, encouraging, and comforting in letting you know you are not alone.
