#367 Signal School 11 | with The Community | Crown Refs Mentor

#367 Signal School 11 | with The Community | Crown Refs Mentor

Thank you for another great Signal School session as your positive energy and kindness are infectious. Next time I will be sure to record the gallery view rather than the speaker view but I'm sure you will still gain a ton of value from this session. Enjoy!⁣

Thanks for watching Signal School 11! Here are some of the takeaways from our session:⁣

    1. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: Consistency in signal execution ensures clarity and prevents confusion among players, coaches, and spectators. Each signal should be executed with confidence and precision.⁣
    2. 𝗙𝗹𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹: Signals should flow smoothly from one to the next without appearing rushed or mechanical. Control in each motion emphasizes confidence in the call.⁣
    3. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀: Developing ambidexterity in signaling not only enhances clarity but also prepares officials for any position on the court, maintaining openness to the play.⁣
    4. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆: Especially for calls like player control fouls, ensure your body positioning remains open to the court to keep all ongoing play within view.⁣
    5. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: When reporting to the table, maintain clear and precise hand signals at eye level, ensuring numbers and foul types are easily visible and understandable.⁣
    6. 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Avoid unnecessary steps or movements when signaling to maintain focus on the call and not distract from the game’s flow.⁣
    7. 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Regularly review your own game footage to analyze your signaling effectiveness and seek feedback from peers or mentors for continuous improvement.⁣
    8. 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Each signal should be delivered with confidence to convey decisiveness in your calls, reinforcing authority and respect on the court.⁣
    9. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲: While sticking closely to the rulebook’s mechanics, find comfortable variations that fit your style and enhance clarity, ensuring they remain within the scope of official mechanics.⁣

Great podcast

As a younger official I’m always trying to find more info and tips to improve. This podcast is amazing

Lost it’s way

Been a follower for years but it seems Paul & the podcast has lost its way.
Not offering much on content anymore, instead, just out to make money. Don’t hate em for that, just not what I’m tuning in for.
The evaluations at AAU tournaments are tough to listen to.
