Why You Need A Personal Brand, Boo!

Why You Need A Personal Brand, Boo!

We all have brands that we love. Maybe it's Nike, Apple, or Starbucks.
We also have people whose brands we love - influencers, celebrities, and musicians. We don't even know these people, and yet we love them, pay money to see them, and trust them.
Well guess what? You ALSO have a personal brand that you emit (like body odor) every single day. And, you have a personal brand whether you know it or not. WE ALL DO! So, why don't you make sure that your personal brand is working in YOUR favor and not against you?
Tune into this episode to learn more about why you need a personal brand, and how I define it. You'll walk away with a way better understanding of the value of a brand.

    I Love The 70's, 80's, 90's, Job Search Edition

    I Love The 70's, 80's, 90's, Job Search Edition

Do you remember when vh1 used to have those decade nostalgia shows, "I Love the 80's" and "I Love the 90's"?
Well, I decided to do a little internet sleuthing & researching, and make my own version of "I Love the X's": Job Search Edition.
Yes, it's a little corny but I wanted to do a fun episode for y'all! I ended up learning some really interesting things like, did you know it was OK to light up a cigarette during an interview in the 70's? Sure was.
No, but seriously, on this episode, I explain how we got to the modern day job search as we know it today and how some things seem to never change - with cyclical recessions, boom economies, and competitive job markets.
I also talk about how THE internet blew up the job search proces, giving us both massive rejection heartache AND a massive opportunity - we just need to know how to use it!

Is The Customer Success Manager Role For You?, with Erica Coleman

Is The Customer Success Manager Role For You?, with Erica Coleman

Are you a people person? Do you like tech? Are you into data? Then, the Customer Success Manager role might be the perfect next career move for you.
Even though this job didn't exist 10 years ago, it's now one of the fastest growing career paths in tech (particularly in Software-as-a-Service), and it's not going anywhere. It's also one of those career paths that you can pivot into fairly easily with a strong set of transferable skills and without getting a new degree.
On today's episode, experienced CSM Erica Coleman talks about the CSM role, why it's a GREAT fit for former teachers, and the type of strengths needed to succeed in this role. We also talk about what CSM is NOT - it's not customer service and it's not a sales role.

Why You Procrastinate During Your Job Search and How It Holds You Back

Why You Procrastinate During Your Job Search and How It Holds You Back

    Is procrastination killing your dreams?
Do you keep telling yourself that you "should" start working on your job search, only to end up spending hours on TikTok, Netflix or literally anything else?
Weeks go by, then months, and you're no closer to your career change goal. If this is you, it's only because of a feeling you are trying to avoid in the moment.
The problem is that while you might avoid temporary discomfort, you prolong your long-term discomfort and create even MORE costs for you down the road.
In this episode, I explain how powerful it is to understand the "Think-Feel-Act" cycle and slightly tweak your thoughts so that you actually get sh* done. I also share some simple strategies to make it more likely for you to take action.

Like a coffee date with your brilliant, successful, authentic friend

On the Early Career Moves podcast, Priscilla does an excellent job explaining the research or theory behind big ideas that she talks about. She easily weaves in research and theory with her own personal experience and challenges us listeners to do the same. She invites you to be introspective, not in a judgmental way but a “how do I use this knowledge to further my career and make myself more effective at work” way. Her guests are interesting and from diverse backgrounds and they give great insight into how to market and grow yourself personally and professionally. The advice that Priscilla gives to listeners are techniques that she has tried herself, and she has examples to back them up. A total joy to listen to.
