The Fitness Industry has a Long Way to Go w/Michael Stack

The Wellness Paradox

Listeners to the Wellness Paradox know our goal is to assist fitness professionals (and the industry) in becoming part of the healthcare delivery system. Although we’ve made some strides in this effort, as an industry, over the past few years, we still have a long way to go given a recent event at the White House.

At the end of September, the White House held a conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and published a whitepaper suggesting solutions for improving health. One of the four pillars outlined was on physical activity, and the fitness industry was not mentioned, not ONCE. This serves as a wakeup call, that although we’ve come a long way, we still have a long way to go.

In episode 75, Wellness Paradox Podcast host Michael Stack breaks down three critical steps he feels are necessary to ensure we’re included in these critical public health conversations in the future. As he reminds us, if the industry is ever going to be financially stable and truly effectuate a change in population health, these steps MUST be taken.
