Noble
In the winter of 2002, police discovered more than 300 bodies on one property in the tiny town of Noble, Georgia. What followed was one of the biggest and most expensive investigations in the history of the American South. To get to the bottom of this forgotten case, journalist Shaun Raviv visits a rural community with plenty of secrets. He discovers the epic history of the well-respected family who owned the property, uncovers the fates of the bodies sent to a crematory called Tri-State, and searches for the mysterious man at the center of it all. And in the process, Shaun explores one of the most primal and vexing questions we face as human beings: What do the living owe the dead? Noble is an 8-episode series with new episodes publishing Wednesday mornings.

This podcast was incredibly well done! It brings up moral and ethical issues that we rarely think about. We avoid these thoughts in an attempt to deny our own mortality. Personally, I have very few concerns about what happens to my body after I die. I would much prefer to be at the Tristate Crematorium, among the dead, in nature, than to be pumped full of embalming fluids and locked in a vault in the ground while my family is scammed out of their money to provide a “final resting place” for me. I am concerned that people who are so enraged that they would threaten to kill this man’s lawyer or would hand down thousands of years worth of prison sentences to this man are so unable to accept death. Meanwhile, men who rape little children often only receive around 5 years or less… Death is one of only two things we are guaranteed in this life: birth and death. We have to start accepting that it’s what is going to happen to all of us. This podcast shines a huge, glaring light on our extreme measures to dissociate from our fears of death.
